Engineering Managers (EMs) lead teams of diverse groups of people who are moving towards realizing Flipkart’s vision. They are responsible for building high-performing teams where each team member feels the impact of their work. EMs also set the direction for the team and support people in their career growth.

They ensure that the teams have an inspiring vision for the future. The teams work on a spectrum of products and platforms which power Flipkart. EMs provide technical leadership to identify and define the right component/system abstractions/capabilities for current/future product/platform asks.

One of the key responsibilities of an EM is to understand business goals and contribute to product strategy and take accountability for moving key business metrics. They are also responsible for driving execution using agile methodologies by removing impediments along the way with the big picture in mind. You are responsible for:

Engineering Managers (EMs)



lead engineers across levels of diverse groups of people who are moving towards realizing Flipkart groups vision. They set the direction and the long term vision for the team, partner with the product, business, and other stakeholders to realize their vision. The teams work on a spectrum of products and platforms which power Flipkart groups.

They lead the way for the teams to evangelize various ideas, provide technical leadership, and facilitate platformization of the systems across the ecosystem. SEMs partner with product teams on key business metrics in their areas, lead the way for innovative solutions to complex and challenging domain problems and drive agility in execution by leading by example.

● Build, lead, develop and provide hands-on leadership for top-notch engineers and leads.

● Create clear career paths for team members to help them grow with regular and deep mentoring, Attract and retain top talent keeping long term goals in mind

● Drive strategy and vision across teams in a rapidly evolving environment

● Work closely with diverse stakeholders and enable them by providing scalable and quality technology solutions.





● Facilitate platforms solutions that span beyond the team and across the ecosystem

● Take accountability for moving the key business metrics within your area and Provide thought partnership to the product team and ensure collaboration among product, engineering, and business operation teams.

● Drive agility in execution, create a strong team culture of responsiveness by leading by example and own decision making around prioritization for better predictability Technologies used : React.js, Next.js, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AngularJS, TypeScript, Responsive Design, Single Page Applications (SPA), Docker You should have:

● B.Tech, M.tech or any other similar qualification with at least 10+ years of experience in building cutting edge products with 2+ years in people management

● Positive understanding of technology and architecture in a highly scalable and available setup

● Strong experience handling large data (batch and real-time), workflows and scheduling, building pluggable frameworks and systems, strong abstraction, and design skills.

● Proven track record of delivering products with high quality, familiarity with multiple software development practices and tools

● Strong partnership with product and business teams that demonstrates effective collaboration and communication across multiple stakeholders

● Exposure to different design & architecture patterns as we build systems in SOA. Exposure to batch processing & near real time pipelines to transition data between multiple systems
