Embedded Systems Developer
Type: [Full time]
Your Mission
As an Embedded Systems Developer, you will be the brain behind our hardware. You will write the firmware that sits at the intersection of software and the physical world, ensuring our devices operate reliably, efficiently, and securely. Your primary focus will be designing, developing, and deploying robust embedded software for [consumer electronics / industrial IoT / robotics] where performance and power optimization are critical.
The Tech Stack
- Languages: Modern C, C++
- OS/Architecture: Bare-metal, RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr), [Embedded Linux / Yocto]
- Microcontrollers: ARM Cortex-M (STM32, NXP), ESP32, [Nordic nRF]
- Protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, CAN bus, [BLE, Wi-Fi, MQTT]
- Tools: Logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/SWD debuggers, Git
The Day-to-Day
- Bring Hardware to Life: Develop, test, and deploy bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware for new and existing microcontroller platforms.
- Interface with Sensors: Write reliable device drivers and board support packages (BSPs) to interface with sensors, actuators, and memory chips.
- Optimize Everything: Continuously profile and tune code to maximize execution speed, minimize memory footprint, and drastically reduce battery power consumption.
- Debug at the Metal:
Work hands-on in the lab alongside hardware engineers to debug complex hardware-software integration issues using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Ensure Reliability: Build automated Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing pipelines to ensure our devices never fail in the field.
- Collaborate: Participate in schematic reviews and component selection, providing software-level feedback on hardware designs before they go to manufacturing.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of professional experience developing embedded software or firmware for mass-production or high-reliability hardware.
- Exceptional proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
- Proven experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and bare-metal environments.
- Strong understanding of microprocessor architectures, memory management, and interrupt-driven programming.
- Ability to read hardware schematics and datasheets, and comfort using standard lab debugging equipment.
- A degree (BS, MS, or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
Bonus Points
- You have experience with wireless connectivity and IoT protocols (Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi-Fi, LoRa, MQTT).
- You are familiar with embedded Linux kernel development, device trees, or Yocto/Buildroot.
- You have implemented over-the-air (OTA) firmware update systems.
- You have experience with basic PCB layout or using CAD tools like Altium or KiCad.
