About the Opportunity

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to assist in delivering world-class infrastructure that supports Align Technology's API Management Platforms. You will be part of a cross-functional agile team, building scalable, automated solutions that impact hundreds of internal users and business-critical services.

This role specifically focuses on the Apigee API Gateway, managing both the Apigee Hybrid environment in AWS China and the Apigee X SaaS setting globally. You will work to ensure zero-downtime deployments, robust monitoring, and system health, while automating and documenting all processes for maintainability and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

- Own and manage deployment and maintenance of Apigee Hybrid in AWS China, ensuring high availability and zero-downtime updates.
- Provide support and development for a custom-built Self-Service API Gateway publishing platform.
- Contribute to incident response and on-call support for Apigee platforms globally.
- Implement monitoring and visibility systems to report system health and status to technical and executive stakeholders.
- Maintain CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, and manage containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
- Collaborate across teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of infrastructure with robust documentation and version-controlled codebases.
- Engage with Apigee X (SaaS) platform for configuration, testing, and extension of API Gateway functionality.
- Cross-train team members and document processes to ensure team-wide support capabilities.

What We're Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

- 7+ years of experience in DevOps with proven ability to manage complex projects in high-pressure environments.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS, including experience leading or owning DevOps efforts.
- Proficiency in zero-downtime deployment strategies, system health monitoring, and platform reliability engineering.
- Strong programming and scripting skills in Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, or similar.
- Proficiency with Kubernetes (K8s), especially in AWS EKS environments.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Practical knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and deployment automation.
- Experience deploying and maintaining 3rd-party applications in AWS environments, including databases and other services.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and time zones.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to ambiguity, and respond to evolving business needs with urgency and ownership.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience working with Apigee Hybrid and Apigee X API Gateway configurations.
- Prior experience in regulated environments or high-security infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of security-first design principles and best practices in cloud architecture.
