Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Counsel with 5 to 10 years of experience in legal advisory, contract management, and compliance, preferably within the logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry. The successful candidate will manage corporate legal risk, handle contract drafting and negotiating, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee dispute resolution and litigation management.

Experience: 5 to 10 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) as in-house legal counsel or practicing advocate.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contract Drafting, Negotiation & Review

- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Vendor Contracts, Bilateral Logistics Agreements, Charter Parties, Standard Trading Conditions (STCs), and Warehousing Agreements.
- Identify contractual risks, liabilities, and indemnities, ensuring the companys business interests are adequately protected.

2. Industry Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

- Ensure strict adherence to domestic and international trade, maritime, and customs laws (e.g., Customs Act, Multimodal Transportation of Goods Act, Carriage by Air/Road/Sea Acts).




- Oversee licensing requirements, customs compliance, export/import regulatory norms, and dangerous goods regulations.

3. Claims & Dispute Management

- Manage commercial disputes, cargo damage claims, freight liability claims, and demurrage/detention issues.
- Coordinate with external legal counsels, arbitrators, P&I; Clubs, and insurance providers for effective dispute resolution.

4. Advisory & Corporate Governance

- Provide actionable legal advice to internal stakeholders (Operations, Sales, Finance, HR, and Management) on operational risk mitigation.
- Ensure corporate governance, anti-bribery (FCPA/UKBA compliance), and data privacy compliance.

Technical & Industry Skills

- Logistics & Maritime Law: Robust background in Maritime Law, Multimodal Transport, Customs Regulations, and Freight Forwarding operations.
- Contract Management: Advanced proficiency in commercial contract drafting, risk identification, and negotiation.
- Dispute Resolution: Practical experience handling arbitration, litigation, and insurance/liability claims.
