ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre Medical Complex, Indira Nagar Puducherry , India invites application for Consultant: Scientific (Non-Medical) Position from eligible and interested candidates

About- ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre, an autonomous Institute, under the Indian Council of Medical Research, Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India intends to engage Consultant (Scientific) purely on contractual basis for a period of one year. Retired Scientists (Non-Medical) from Central / State Government / Autonomous Organizations / Public Sector Undertaking are eligible for consideration for the above position.

Eligibility/Qualification– Professionals having M.Sc., in Life Sciences / Biological Sciences from a recognized University with research & development experience and published papers.

Retired Government employees with Grade Pay 4,600 & above (Pay Matrix-Level 7 & above as per 7th CPC) and having atleast 20 years experience in the required domain/field.

Desirable: Candidates possessing a Ph.D. in a relevant field will be preferred.

Age: Below 70 years (on the last date of receipt of application) i.e., 21.01.2022

Job/Position Description- Duties / Responsibilities of the Consultant (Scientific) in the following areas:-

- To manage the Central Instrumentaion Facility (CIF)



which contains high end equipemnt GCMASS, LC-MS, HPLC, FPLC, etc.
- To conduct studies on proteomics and genomics of arboviral and rickettsial disaeses.
- To carry out work in the area of advance molecular biology of vector-borne diseases (Filariasis, Leishmaniasis, Ticks and Mosquitoes borne arboviruses).
- To conduct CRISPR-Cas9 based gene editing adapted to leishmania parasites, assessment of vector competence of ticks and mosquitoes for emerging arboviruses, and experimental evolution studies, will be given consideration.
- Technical support to carry out entomological investigation of Kyasanur Forest Disease and other ectoparasitic vectors of rickettsial pathogens.
- Capacity building: Training of national and international public health personnel on various aspects of disease vectors and their control.
- Any other work assigned by the Director, ICMR-VCRC, Puducherry from time to time within the period of contract.
- Consolidated emoluments: Maximum: 70,000/- per month. The emoluments will be fixed based on experience, last pay drawn and post held at the time of retirement or as decided by the competent authority.
- Tenure: The initial term of engagement will be for not more than one year and subsequent extension if any, will be considered depending upon the requirement.
- Place of duty: ICMR-Vector Control Research Centre, Medical Complex, Indira Nagar, Puducherry. The selected candidate should also be prepared to work anywhere in India, as per requirement.
