About the Role

L&T; Metro Rail Hyderabad Limited is seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Operations Manager to lead and oversee metro rail operations, ensuring safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective train services. The role is responsible for managing the Operations Management Contractor (OMC), driving operational excellence, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and ensuring achievement of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) targets.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this position plays a critical role in the strategic and operational success of Hyderabad Metro Rail.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Leadership

- Oversee and manage all OMC activities related to metro rail operations.
- Supervise Operations Control Centre (OCC), station operations, traffic management, facility management, training,



revenue management, and QHSE functions.
- Review and provide inputs on operational plans, reports, procedures, and deliverables.
- Ensure seamless coordination between operations, maintenance, depot, safety, and project teams.

Safety & Compliance

- Lead implementation and monitoring of operational safety standards and procedures.
- Conduct regular operational and safety audits across stations, depots, and OCC.
- Chair quarterly Railway Safety Management Unit (RSMU) meetings to drive continuous safety improvements.
- Ensure contractual and statutory compliance in line with O&M; Agreements, Concession Agreements, Metro Railway O&M; Act, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Oversee controlled area working during Testing & Commissioning (T&C;) activities.

Stakeholder & Interface Management

- Coordinate effectively with ERAs, consultants, contractors, vendors, suppliers, designers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in Monthly Project Review Meetings and Internal Review Meetings to resolve operational, training, and safety-related issues.
- Drive stage-wise CMRS inspection preparedness and coordination activities.

Training & Competency Development





- Monitor training programs and competency development initiatives for OMC personnel.
- Coordinate psychometric assessments for operational staff in collaboration with RDSO.
- Review staffing plans and ensure adequate workforce deployment to support operational requirements.

Performance & Budget Management

- Monitor operational KPIs and ensure targets are consistently achieved.
- Review monthly operational performance reports and recommend improvements based on audits and actual performance.
- Manage and control the Operations budget.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to address issues impacting operational performance and service delivery.

Additional Responsibilities

- Ensure high standards of housekeeping and operational readiness across stations, depots, and OCC.
- Execute special assignments and strategic initiatives as directed by the COO.

Educational Qualification:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (B. Tech) or a related discipline.

Experience:

- 25+ years of professional experience in Train Operations (mandatory).
- Extensive leadership experience in Metro Rail, Indian Railways, Mass Transit Systems, or Large-Scale Transportation Operations.
- Robust experience in Operations Control Centre (OCC) operations, rail safety regulations, testing & commissioning, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven expertise in stakeholder management, contract management, and operational governance.
- Demonstrated experience leading large teams and managing cross-functional operations.
- Rich multidisciplinary experience in Indian Railways and/or Metro Rail systems.
