Role Description The Chess Coach (Part Time) role at Envision Chess Academy is a remote position focused on delivering high-quality chess instruction to students of varying ages and skill levels through online sessions. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting individual and group lessons, analyzing games, preparing lesson materials and training plans, and providing constructive feedback to help students strengthen their tactical and strategic skills.
The Chess
Coach will also monitor student progress, adjust teaching methods to different learning styles, and support students in preparing for tournaments and rating events.
This is a part-time remote role that requires consistent availability during scheduled class times and strong communication with students and the academy’s coaching team.
Qualifications
- Solid chess foundation, including advanced knowledge of openings, middlegame strategies, and endgame techniques; FIDE or national rating and coaching experience are highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated teaching or coaching skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and adapt instruction to different ages and skill levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including patience, encouragement, and a supportive coaching style in an online workplace.
- Comfort with remote teaching tools and online platforms, including video conferencing software, digital chess boards, and learning management systems.
- Reliable time management, professionalism, and the ability to plan structured lessons and track student progress effectively.
- Previous experience teaching chess in group or one-on-one settings is preferred; experience working with children and youth is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., FIDE trainer titles or national coaching credentials) and participation in competitive chess are advantageous.
