Position Title: Business & Category Manager - Fasteners & Fittings
Department: Business Development / Current Category Setup & Scaling
Job Summary
The Business & Category Manager - Fasteners & Fittings will own the P&L; for the Fasteners & Fittings business, from ground zero build-out through scale-up. This is not a conventional business development role - it is a business ownership role. The ideal candidate will independently drive export
& domestic business development, own pricing strategy, and manage sourcing decisions for the business, functioning as an internal entrepreneur responsible for growth, margins, and profitability.
This role requires a strong understanding of fasteners and fittings products, export markets, customer acquisition, and supplier/sourcing dynamics, along with the maturity to make commercial trade-offs independently.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Build-Out & P&L; Ownership:
o Build the Fasteners & Fittings business from the ground up - establishing customer pipeline, supplier base, pricing framework, and operating processes. Own the business P&L;, including revenue growth, margins, and overall profitability. Set the business strategy and roadmap, and make independent decisions on which markets, customers, and products to prioritize for growth. Act as the business owner rather than a functional specialist - balancing sales, sourcing, and pricing decisions to maximize outcomes.
1. Exports Business Development:
o Identify, prospect, and develop new export customers for fasteners and fittings across relevant geographies and industries. Manage the full sales cycle for export accounts - lead generation, inquiry management, quoting, negotiation, and order closure. Build and maintain strong relationships with international buyers, distributors, and OEMs. Track and respond to export RFQs in a timely and competitive manner.
1. Pricing:
o Own end-to-end pricing decisions for the business, balancing competitiveness with margin objectives. Develop pricing models and cost structures for various fastener and fitting product types (standard and custom), factoring in material, processing, freight, duties, and other landed cost components. Benchmark pricing against market/competitor data and adjust strategy to win business profitably.
1. Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Development:
o Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable manufacturing/supply partners for fasteners and fittings (domestic and/or international, as required). Negotiate commercial terms with suppliers to ensure cost competitiveness and quality/delivery reliability. Continuously evaluate the supplier base for cost-saving opportunities, alternate sourcing options, and risk mitigation. Work closely with quality and production teams
(where applicable) to ensure supplier output meets customer specifications.
1. Data Management & Meticulousness:
o Maintain and continuously update business data - customer pipeline, pricing history, supplier cost data, and order tracking. Set up scalable processes and systems for the business as it grows, laying the foundation for a larger team over time. Track business performance against targets and report progress to leadership.
Required Qualifications Skills
- Education:
o Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (Mechanical/Industrial
Engineering background is a plus but not mandatory).
- Experience:
o At least 5-7 years of experience in business development / inside sales within the fasteners and fittings industry (or closely related industrial/hardware products).
Demonstrated experience in export business development, including handling international customers, quoting, and export documentation/processes. Strong working knowledge of fasteners and fittings products, applications, and industry pricing dynamics. Prior exposure to sourcing/procurement of these products, with the ability to negotiate with suppliers and manage supplier relationships.
Experience owning a P&L;, revenue target, or business unit outcome (formally or informally) is highly preferred.
- Skills:
o Strong commercial acumen, comfortable owning pricing and sourcing decisions, not just sales targets. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage both international customers and domestic suppliers. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data/pricing analysis tools. Self-starter mindset with high ownership, comfortable operating with ambiguity in a build-from-scratch environment. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
o Prior experience building or scaling a new product category/business line o Existing network of export customers and/or suppliers in the fasteners and fittings space.
What This Role Offers
o This is a high-ownership, high-responsibility role ideal for someone who wants to grow their career by running a business, not just a business development person. The successful candidate will have significant autonomy to shape strategy, pricing, and sourcing, with the challenge and reward of building something from the ground up
Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹1,200,000.00 per year
