The Boiler Operation Engineer is responsible for the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of boilers and associated auxiliary equipment in a power plant. The role includes monitoring boiler performance, maintaining operational parameters, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and coordinating with maintenance teams to achieve uninterrupted power generation.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate and monitor boiler systems, including startup, shutdown, and load changes.

- Ensure stable steam pressure, temperature, and water level within design limits.

- Monitor boiler auxiliaries such as FD/ID/PA fans, air preheaters, economizers, soot blowers, and ash handling systems.

- Optimize combustion efficiency and maintain proper fuel-air ratio.

- Monitor DCS/SCADA systems and respond promptly to alarms and abnormal operating conditions.

- Conduct routine inspections of boiler equipment and report defects or abnormalities.

- Coordinate with maintenance personnel for planned and emergency maintenance activities.

- Ensure compliance with plant operating procedures, safety regulations, and environmental standards.

- Maintain operation logs, shift reports,



and equipment performance records.

- Participate in troubleshooting boiler trips, equipment failures, and process upsets.

- Support energy efficiency and heat rate improvement initiatives.

- Ensure proper operation of water treatment systems related to boiler feedwater quality.

- Follow permit-to-work (PTW) procedures and safety protocols during maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.

- Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) certification/license (where required by local regulations).

Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of boiler operation and combustion systems.

- Familiarity with DCS/PLC-based plant operation.

- Knowledge of steam generation, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.

- Understanding of power plant auxiliaries and process controls.

- Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.

- Knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and operational best practices.

- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
