Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Associate – Bankruptcy Operations to support the end-to-end management of bankruptcy accounts within the mortgage servicing portfolio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reviewing bankruptcy filings, processing cases accurately, ensuring compliance with investor and regulatory guidelines, and coordinating with attorneys, trustees, courts, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Review and process bankruptcy notifications, petitions, and court documents.
Monitor Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.
Update servicing systems accurately with bankruptcy-related information.
Review Proof of Claims (POC), payment plans, reaffirmation agreements, and discharge documentation.
Track critical bankruptcy milestones and ensure timely completion of required actions.
Coordinate with legal counsel, trustees, and internal departments regarding case status and requirements.
Ensure compliance with bankruptcy laws, investor guidelines, and company policies.
Perform quality reviews and identify discrepancies within bankruptcy case documentation.
Handle customer inquiries related to bankruptcy accounts while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Maintain accurate records and generate reports on bankruptcy inventory, aging, and performance metrics.
Support audit requests and regulatory examinations by providing required documentation.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Law, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in mortgage servicing, default servicing, bankruptcy operations, foreclosure, or related financial services.
Understanding of U.S.
Bankruptcy
Chapters 7, 11, and 13 preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Mortgage Servicing Platforms (e.g., MSP, Sagent, LoanSphere, Black Knight).
Knowledge of investor requirements (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA).
Familiarity with bankruptcy legal documentation and court processes.
Experience working in a high-volume mortgage operations environment.
