Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Backend Developer role based in Bhubaneswar, with a compensation range of 2.5 – 4 LPA.

The Backend

Developer (Python / FastAPI) will design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and APIs that power EduSkills’ digital platforms.

Responsibilities include implementing RESTful services using Python and FastAPI, integrating with databases, optimizing application performance, and ensuring security and reliability of backend systems. The role also involves collaborating with front-end developers and other team members to define requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deploy new features. The developer will participate in code reviews, write unit tests, and contribute to documentation and continuous improvement of the backend architecture.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong Back-End Web Development skills, including work with Python, FastAPI, RESTful APIs, and database integration.
- Candidates should possess solid Software Development and Programming skills, with experience in writing clean, maintainable code and using version control systems.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and design patterns for building modular and scalable applications.




- Candidates should possess basic Front-End Development understanding to effectively collaborate with UI/UX and front-end teams (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript fundamentals).
- Relevant qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Additional beneficial skills include familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases, API security best practices, testing frameworks, and deployment on cloud or containerized environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven organization are expected.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Python and FastAPI.
- Build, optimize, and maintain secure RESTful APIs.
- Design and manage databases using PostgreSQL or MySQL.
- Deploy, monitor, and maintain applications on AWS Cloud.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate APIs with React/Next.js applications.
- Write clean, efficient, reusable, and well-documented code.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
- Participate in code reviews and follow software development best practices.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile development environment.

Required Skills

- 2+ years of experience in Python backend development.
- Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI.
- Good understanding of REST API design principles.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases.
- Knowledge of ORM frameworks such as SQLAlchemy.
- Basic knowledge of AWS services, including EC2 and S3.
- Experience with Git and version control workflows.
- Solid problem-solving and debugging skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with AWS ECS, Auto Scaling Groups (ASG), and Application Load Balancers (ALB).
- Knowledge of Docker and containerized deployments.
- Exposure to React or Next.js for frontend integration.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines.
- Understanding of cloud-native application architecture and microservices.
