Job Summary The Project Engineer (Automation) is responsible for designing, programming, testing, installing, commissioning, and supporting industrial automation systems. The role involves executing automation projects using PLC, SCADA, HMI, VFD, and industrial communication systems while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with client specifications and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and implement PLC, SCADA, and HMI applications for industrial automation projects.
- Configure and commission PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial communication networks.
- Prepare Functional Design Specifications (FDS), I/O lists, control philosophies, and automation documentation.
- Prepare electrical control panel interface requirements and coordinate with the electrical engineering team.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Attend customer sites for project execution, startup, testing, and technical support.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, procurement, production, and project teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Diagnose and resolve automation system faults and provide timely technical support.
- Prepare project reports, commissioning reports, user manuals, and as-built documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, client specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations.




- Support continuous improvement initiatives and recommend technical enhancements for automation systems.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering.
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial automation, control systems, or project execution.
- Experience in PLC, SCADA, HMI, VFDs, and industrial automation projects is preferred.

Required Skills

- PLC Programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Omron, Delta, etc.)
- SCADA and HMI Development
- VFD and Servo Drive Configuration
- Industrial Communication Protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, CAN, etc.)
- Electrical Control Panels and Instrumentation
- FAT, SAT, Installation, and Commissioning
- AutoCAD Electrical (preferred)
- MS Office and Technical Documentation
- Troubleshooting and Analytical Skills
- Communication, Teamwork, and Time Management

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Timely completion of assigned automation projects.
- Successful FAT, SAT, and commissioning with minimal defects.
- Quality and reliability of PLC, SCADA, and HMI programs.
- Compliance with project schedules, budgets, safety, and quality standards.
- Reduction in commissioning issues and project rework.
- Customer satisfaction and timely technical support.
- Accuracy and completeness of project documentation.

Working Conditions

- Office and project site-based role.
- Frequent travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support.
