The Associate
Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and advancing the strategic direction of AVPN’s Health Impact Platform. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Health Impact Platform, the role involves close collaboration with other leads—spanning Climate, Gender, Capital Mobilisation, Blended Finance, Impact Investing, Markets, Communication, Partnerships, and Knowledge—to deliver a dynamic, high-impact programme. AVPN’s Health Impact Platform seeks to transform health systems by harnessing Asian leadership and strategically channeling capital into health financing.
It centers on three core principles: the Continuum of Capital, which creates Asia-based opportunities for social investor partnerships; Asian Leadership, which elevates regional contributions to global sustainability; and intersectionality, which deepens insights into the interconnected effects of climate, gender, and health. The platform's strategic priorities include enhancing access to essential medicines, optimizing health financing, strengthening the health system, and improving service delivery, with a focus on addressing the intersectionality of climate and gender in health outcomes. India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates Responsibilities The Assistant Director, Programmes will play a key leadership role in advancing AVPN’s mission to mobilise capital towards impactful health solutions across Asia. Working closely with the Executive Director of the Health Impact Platform,
the Associate Director will take ownership of strategy execution and drive outcomes that align with AVPN’s broader objectives—including strengthening the social investor community, enhancing programme reach and engagement, advancing thought leadership, securing sustainable funding streams, delivering on grant commitments, and catalysing capital flows toward health-related initiatives.
Lead Strategy and Implementation: Spearhead the design and execution of the Health Impact Platform’s strategy, ensuring alignment with AVPN’s overarching goals and applying strong project management skills to drive impactful initiatives across Asia.
Drive Platform Success Across a Team-oriented Ecosystem: Operate within a flat organizational structure to harness AVPN’s existing assets—including program verticals such as Knowledge, Blended Finance, Impact Investing, and Capital Mobilisation—and collaborate with membership and regional markets teams to achieve the platform’s impact aspirations.
Strengthen Funder Pipeline: Partner with the AVPN Partnerships team, under the guidance of the Executive Director, to cultivate and expand a strong pipeline of funders, ensuring the platform’s long-term sustainability and growth.
Amplify Visibility and Engagement: Work closely with the Communications team to shape and deliver compelling narratives and targeted communications that elevate the visibility, influence, and impact of the platform and its initiatives.
Required Experience and Skills
10–12 years of progressive experience leading and executing high-impact initiatives within lean, agile teams, ideally in the social impact or development sectors.
Proven expertise in the public health sector, with a strong grasp of both global and regional trends, policy landscapes, and ecosystem dynamics across Asia.
Proven leadership and team management experience, with a track record of effectively leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability toward shared goals.
Strong ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and sound judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally, up to 35% of the time, to support programme implementation, partner engagement, and ecosystem-building efforts across Asia.
Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and convenings, including the design and execution of strategic events, roundtables, and multi-stakeholder dialogues.
Fluent in the language of capital across the spectrum—comfortable engaging with funders and partners in philanthropy, impact investing, and blended finance to drive capital mobilisation for impact.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and represent AVPN confidently in high-level, external-facing engagements.
Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and nurture meaningful partnerships with members, funders, and ecosystem stakeholders.
Outstanding organisational and programme management capabilities, with a track record of delivering cross-sectoral and cross-cultural initiatives involving diverse internal and external collaborators.
Digitally fluent and tech-enabled, with comfort in using cloud-based tools, CRMs, and digital platforms to enhance member engagement and operational efficiency.
