LightSpeed Photonics is looking for a customer-facing Application Engineer to help translate advanced optical-interconnect technology into deployable AI, HPC, storage and data-centre systems.

Our flagship LightKonnect™ platform is a solderable near-package optical engine that brings high-bandwidth optical connectivity closer to GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs and processors—reducing power consumption, latency and board footprint.

We also develop LightPCIe™ , a PCIe-over-fibre solution for rack-scale compute, accelerator and storage connectivity.

Headquartered in Singapore, with R&D; operations in Hyderabad, we work across photonics, high-speed electronics and advanced packaging to enable scalable data movement for the AI era.

About the role

As an Application Engineer, you will bridge the gap between LightSpeed’s optical-interconnect technology and our customers’ system architectures.

You will work directly with system architects, CTOs, hardware designers, OEMs, chipmakers, data-centre companies and internal engineering teams.

The role combines:

- Solution architecting
- Customer technical consulting
- Pre-sales and post-sales engineering
- Product evaluation and PoC execution
- Design-in and design-win management
- Hardware integration and troubleshooting
- Technical documentation and demonstrations

You will guide customer programmes from early architectural discussions and product evaluation through PoC validation, design-in, design-win and production readiness.

Key responsibilities

Customer engagement and technical consulting

- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers evaluating LightKonnect™ and LightPCIe™
- Conduct architectural and system-level design reviews
- Understand customer constraints across signal integrity, power delivery, thermal behaviour, PCB stack-up and system integration
- Map customer requirements to practical optical-interconnect architectures
- Deliver technical presentations, workshops, demonstrations and product roadmaps




- Simplify complex electronic-photonic integration concepts for technical and business decision-makers

Demand creation and design-win management
- Identify new design opportunities across AI/ML systems, edge computing, high-density switching, storage and accelerator platforms
- Manage the technical opportunity funnel from concept and PoC to design-in, design-win and mass production
- Work closely with Sales and Business Development to align engineering effort with commercial priorities
- Support account-level technical strategy and maximise LightSpeed’s integration potential within customer platforms

Hands-on integration and technical support

- Debug and resolve complex board-level and system-level integration issues
- Support high-speed interface configuration, signal-integrity analysis and hardware bring-up
- Assist customers with FPGA systems, PCIe-over-fibre, optical engines, Near-Package Optics and Co-Packaged Optics frameworks
- Develop hardware reference designs, application notes, evaluation kits, simulations and bench demonstrations
- Provide onsite and virtual support during customer evaluations and critical debugging situations

Cross-functional and ecosystem collaboration
- Work closely with R&D;, Product, System Architecture, Product Marketing, Sales and Business Development
- Translate customer feedback into product requirements and feature improvements
- Share competitor, market and application insights with internal teams
- Collaborate with OSATs, semiconductor design houses, hardware vendors and strategic ecosystem partners
- Support validation workflows across product, board and system levels

What we are looking for

- 3–6 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optoelectronics or a related discipline




- Strong experience with high-speed serial interfaces such as PCIe Gen5/6, Ethernet and SerDes
- Understanding of signal integrity, high-frequency PCB design, power delivery and board-level hardware integration
- Exposure to network switches, servers, NICs, FPGA-based systems, system-on-modules or prototyping platforms
- Ability to read schematics, datasheets, interface specifications and engineering documentation
- Experience developing and executing test plans, validation methods and performance measurements

Experience with the following would be highly valuable:
- Optical transceivers and fibre communication
- Near-Package Optics or Co-Packaged Optics
- FPGA and embedded SoC platforms
- ARM or RISC-V systems
- C/C++ development
- OpenVINO or FPGA AI Suite
- MATLAB or Simulink
