About The Role The Staff Accountant position at Emergence offers an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about accounting and financial consolidation. This remote role based in India involves managing accurate and timely monthly and annual financial closes across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and maintaining audit-ready documentation.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting our consolidation processes, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with internal and external audits. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a keen eye for detail, and are eager to contribute to the financial integrity of a growing portfolio of software companies. As part of our finance team, you will have the chance to work closely with cross-functional teams and gain exposure to private equity-backed business scaling and consolidation accounting processes.

Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a strong foundation in accounting principles, specifically U.S. GAAP,



with a minimum of three years of staff-level experience in CA, CMA, or equivalent roles. Proficiency in ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero, or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is essential.

Advanced

Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and nested formulas, are required to build reconciliation trackers and perform detailed analysis. Candidates must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, ensuring error-free work and comprehensive audit trails.

Experience in multi-entity or consolidation environments, preparing journal entries, and performing account reconciliations are highly valued.

Certifications like CA (qualified) or CA fresher credentials are preferred, along with prior experience in private equity portfolio companies or similar multi-entity setups.

Responsibilities The key responsibilities of the Staff Accountant include: Completing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycles on established calendars with zero material errors.

Preparing and posting over 50 monthly journal entries, complete with supporting documentation and general ledger reconciliation within 48 hours.

Reconciling more than 15 balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, investigating discrepancies, and maintaining roll-forward schedules for accruals.

Maintaining and reconciling bank accounts, accounts receivable/payable subledgers, and fixed asset registers to the general ledger.

Recording fixed asset additions, disposals, transfers, and calculating monthly depreciation with strict accuracy.





Supporting internal and external audits by delivering organized, cross-referenced documentation within 48 hours of request.

Identifying process improvements and proactively building reconciliation controls and exception reports.

Collaborating with team members to resolve bottlenecks in the close process and proposing solutions for continuous enhancement.
