Job Summary

The X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic examinations as prescribed by physicians while ensuring patient safety, radiation protection, and high-quality imaging. The technician maintains imaging equipment, assists radiologists when required, ensures proper documentation, and adheres to hospital policies, radiation safety guidelines, and NABH standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care

- Receive and verify patient identity using approved identification protocols.
- Explain the imaging procedure and obtain patient cooperation.
- Ensure patient comfort, privacy, and dignity throughout the procedure.
- Assess patients for contraindications and pregnancy status where applicable.
- Position patients accurately to obtain optimal diagnostic images.
- Provide assistance to elderly, pediatric, trauma, and critically ill patients.

2. Diagnostic Imaging

- Perform routine and emergency X-ray examinations as prescribed.
- Produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing repeat exposures.
- Operate digital radiography (DR/CR) systems and related imaging equipment.
- Follow standard imaging protocols for various body parts and special procedures.
- Assist radiologists during contrast and fluoroscopic procedures when required.

3. Radiation Safety

- Adhere strictly to radiation protection principles (ALARA).
- Ensure proper use of lead aprons, thyroid shields, gonadal shields, and other protective devices.
- Monitor radiation exposure using personal dosimeters.
- Ensure radiation warning signs and safety measures are maintained.
- Report any radiation hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.

4. Equipment Management

- Perform daily equipment checks before starting operations.




- Ensure X-ray machines and accessories are functioning properly.
- Report equipment breakdowns promptly.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper care of imaging equipment.

5. Documentation

- Maintain accurate patient records and imaging logs.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of digital images.
- Document procedures performed and any incidents encountered.
- Maintain radiation exposure and quality assurance records.

6. Infection Prevention & Control

- Follow standard infection prevention and control practices.
- Clean and disinfect equipment after each patient as per protocol.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure biomedical waste segregation according to hospital guidelines.

7. Emergency Responsibilities

- Attend emergency imaging requests promptly.
- Assist in trauma, ICU, OT, and bedside portable X-ray procedures.
- Ensure emergency imaging equipment is readily available and functional.

8. Communication & Coordination

- Coordinate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Communicate examination instructions clearly to patients.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Participate in departmental meetings and quality improvement activities.

9. Quality Assurance





- Ensure diagnostic image quality meets departmental standards.
- Minimize repeat examinations through proper technique.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Follow NABH and radiation safety standards at all times.

Qualification

- Diploma in X-Ray Technology / Diploma in Radiography / Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology (DMIT), or
- B.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology / Radiography from a recognized institution.
- Registration with the appropriate State Paramedical Council, where applicable.

Experience

- 0–2 years: Junior X-Ray Technician.
- 2–5 years: X-Ray Technician.
- Experience in Digital Radiography (DR), Computed Radiography (CR), Portable X-ray, and Fluoroscopy is preferred.

Skills Required

- Knowledge of radiographic positioning and imaging techniques.
- Thorough understanding of radiation safety and protection.
- Ability to operate digital imaging systems.
- Positive communication and patient-handling skills.
- Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Radiology Information Systems (RIS), and PACS.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

- Compliance with radiation safety protocols.
- Timely completion of imaging procedures.
- Equipment maintenance and operational readiness.
- Accuracy of documentation and image records.
- Patient satisfaction and safety.
- Adherence to NABH and hospital quality standards.

Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
