- A Quality Engineer designs, implements, and monitors quality standards and control systems to ensure products, processes, and services are safe, reliable, and defect-free. They bridge the gap between operational output and customer expectations by preventing errors, troubleshooting malfunctions, and driving continuous improvement.
- Core Responsibilities
- Standards Development: Define and maintain rigorous quality protocols (like ISO 9001) that processes and finished goods must meet.
- Testing and Inspection: Design and execute test plans, analyze metrics, and oversee the inspection of incoming materials and end-products.
- Root Cause Analysis: Investigate quality issues to find the source of defects, subsequently managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Compliance & Documentation: Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test cases,
and quality reports to ensure all regulatory and safety standards are satisfied.
- Key Skills Required
- Analytical & Math Skills: Proficient in statistical process control (SPC) and data interpretation.
- Problem-Solving: Expertise in methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, and 8D reporting.
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to influence cross-functional teams (from engineering to suppliers) without conflict.
- Detail-Oriented: A methodical mindset focused on defect prevention rather than just detection.
