Job Title: Senior Test Engineer – AI-Integrated Test Automation

Job Summary

Astaqc is hiring a Senior Test Engineer to lead our next generation of test automation. This role goes beyond framework maintenance. We want someone who has actively integrated AI models into their test lifecycle — generating tests, detecting flaky assertions, healing broken selectors, and publishing results through up-to-date observability stacks. If you have built or operated an autonomous testing pipeline where AI models do meaningful work, this is the role.

Responsibilities

AI-Augmented Test Automation

- Design and implement test automation frameworks that integrate AI/LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, open-source models via LiteLLM or Ollama) for test case generation from requirements, user stories, or Gherkin specs.
- Build and maintain self-healing test automation: AI models analyse DOM/selector failures and propose or apply corrections without manual intervention.
- Integrate vision-based AI models for screenshot comparison, visual regression, and anomaly detection within test pipelines.
- Own the full lifecycle from prompt engineering for test generation through to CI execution and reporting.

Framework & Tooling

- Lead automation efforts across Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress (hands-on with at least two required).
- Design BDD frameworks (Cucumber, SpecFlow) and connect them to AI generation inputs.
- Maintain clean, modular, version-controlled test codebases (Python or TypeScript preferred; C# accepted).

Observability & Reporting

- Set up and maintain test reporting dashboards using Grafana, Kibana, or Allure Report.
- Define SLIs/SLOs for test suite health: flakiness rate, automation coverage, MTTR for broken tests.
- Publish actionable reports to stakeholders showing defect trends, coverage gaps, and AI model performance in test generation.





Collaboration & Leadership

- Work with QA leads and engineering managers to define the AI testing roadmap.
- Mentor mid-level engineers on AI tool integration and prompt engineering for testing use cases.
- Participate in sprint ceremonies, contribute to test strategy documents, and review pull requests for test quality.

Requirements

- 4–7 years in software testing with at least 2 years focused on test automation.
- Demonstrated experience integrating an AI/LLM API into a testing workflow — must be able to show code, a repo, or a recorded demo during the interview.
- Hands-on with at least two of: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, Appium.
- Working knowledge of at least one observability/reporting tool: Grafana, Kibana, ELK stack, or Allure.
- Solid scripting ability in Python, TypeScript, or C#.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI).
- Familiarity with REST API testing (Postman, REST-Assured, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical reasoning and ability to read test failure logs independently.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with autonomous test maintenance — systems that detect and repair broken tests without manual triggers.
- Exposure to AI agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, Smolagents, or similar).
- ISTQB certification (any level).
- Experience in a QA outsourcing or client-delivery environment.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools (k6, JMeter, Gatling).

Interview Process Note

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to demonstrate a working AI-integrated automation example during a technical round. This can be a live demo, a shared repo, or a recorded walkthrough — passive claims without evidence will not be considered.

Location: Mumbai. On-site preferred; hybrid considered for the right candidate.
