At Burns & McDonnell India (BMI OGC), you'll be joining the ranks of our I&C; team. You'll report to department & functional managers, The engineering design of projects spanning across sectors such as Oil, Gas, Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Renewable Fuels, Decarbonization, and Carbon Capture. And these projects aren't limited to a local scale; they are positioned globally, reflecting our worldwide impact.

You'll be a part of our vibrant Oil, Gas, and Chemicals (OGC) Global Practice, a thriving collective of around 500 professionals. This dynamic group lives and breathes engineering, procurement, and construction projects across various industries - Refining, Midstream & Logistics, Petrochemical, and Chemicals.

Your responsibilities would be:

- Function as the lead or area lead designer for medium-sized projects.
- Prepare project execution plans, RACI matrices, QC review matrices, and manhour estimations.
- Manage scheduling, project progress monitoring, change management, risk management, resource planning, and MTO (Material Take-Off) estimating.
- Execute assigned project activities with a strict focus on quality, budget, and schedule KPIs.
- Prepare standard discipline deliverables, including cable tray size calculations, preliminary sketches, and drawings.
- Prepare, self-check, and maintain 3D models for correctness, including routine model housekeeping and modeling activities for fabrication and vendor drawing information.
- Execute activities specific to brownfield projects, including handling battery limits, tie-in design, field verification, inter-unit dependencies,



and coordination with as-built documentation and laser scans.
- Review design inputs for adequacy, conduct vendor document reviews, and resolve site queries and RFIs (Requests for Information).
- Identify and utilize appropriate design tools for the efficient execution of project tasks.
- Effectively deploy the Burns & McDonnell India quality system, utilize BMI databases from previous projects, and apply good engineering practices related to I&C; work, ensuring strict adherence to applicable codes and standards.
- Participate in various design reviews (e.g., model reviews, constructability reviews) on behalf of theBurns & McDonnell India Instrumentation & Controls department, and conduct team reviews of deliverables and models prepared by other disciplines.
- Ensure all designs are safe, of the highest quality, and provide the best value for the client, while actively disseminating safety awareness (especially Safety in Design) and promoting constructability.
- Ensure seamless intra- and inter-discipline coordination to execute project tasks effectively.
- Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel and actively recognize the contributions of team members.
- Contribute actively toward knowledge sharing, standards development, work process optimization, automation, innovation efforts, Value Management Practices (VMP) ideas, and various department initiatives.




- Maintain responsiveness and communicate effectively with both internal and external clients.

Qualifications

- Diploma in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized and reputed institution.
- 12 to 15 years of progressive, relevant design and engineering experience in the Instrumentation & Controls (I&C;) discipline, ideally within the Oil, Gas, and Chemicals sector.
- Robust, working-level knowledge of international codes, standards, and design practices (e.g., ISA, PIP, API).
- Thorough understanding of standard I&C; deliverables, design/drafting practices, activity hierarchies, and inter-discipline input/output requirements.
- Good understanding of standard materials, fabrication methods, and construction practices specific to I&C; work.
- Familiarity with project execution plans, quality management workflows, and the cross-functional roles of other engineering disciplines on major projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, SmartSketch, MicroStation, and S3D (Smart 3D).
- Working knowledge of COMOS, Navisworks, and LFM (including laser scan data files and formats).
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- Excellent command of the English language (both verbal and written), with solid technical writing capabilities.
- Ability to maintain consistent, clear, professional, and concise communication with internal team members and external stakeholders.
