Job Summary

The Nursing Incharge – Wards is responsible for the overall management of nursing services within the assigned inpatient wards. The role ensures high-quality patient care, effective utilization of nursing resources, compliance with NABH standards, infection control practices, staff supervision, patient safety, and smooth ward operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate all nursing activities within the assigned wards.
- Ensure delivery of secure, patient-centered, and evidence-based nursing care.
- Allocate nursing staff according to patient acuity and workload.
- Monitor patient assessments, treatment plans, medication administration, and nursing documentation.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, NABH standards, and nursing protocols.
- Conduct daily ward rounds and address patient care concerns promptly.
- Coordinate with consultants, Resident Medical Officers, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Ensure availability and proper utilization of medical equipment and consumables.
- Monitor and maintain ward cleanliness, infection control, and biomedical waste management practices.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of patient records and nursing documentation.




- Supervise admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Handle patient and attendant grievances professionally and ensure timely resolution.
- Conduct orientation and on-the-job training for newly joined nursing staff.
- Evaluate nursing staff performance and identify training needs.
- Prepare duty rosters and manage shift allocations.
- Ensure compliance with medication safety and patient identification protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, NABH audits, and clinical audits.
- Report incidents, sentinel events, medication errors, and near misses as per hospital policy.
- Coordinate emergency response and ensure preparedness during medical emergencies.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Qualifications

- B.Sc. Nursing / Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (M.Sc. Nursing preferred)
- Valid State Nursing Council Registration
