Backend Software Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer contractor to join our engineering team. This role is ideal for a self-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced setting, takes ownership of deliverables, and can independently design, build, and scale backend systems. You will play a key role in developing robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
Build high-performance systems capable of handling large-scale workloads
Write clean, maintainable,



and efficient code
Ensure system reliability, performance, and security
Contribute to technical decisions and system design
Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
Work independently with strong accountability
Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers

Required Skills & Qualifications

Strong proficiency in Java with Spring Boot (preferred)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices
Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases
Experience working on large-scale systems
Strong knowledge of software engineering principles
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Java design patterns
Experience with distributed systems
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
Knowledge of performance tuning tools
Agile development experience
