Position Overview

The Sr. Associate DC Operations – Retail is responsible for managing end-to-end distribution centre operations supporting a brick-and-mortar retail network. The role ensures seamless store replenishment through efficient inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound operations while maintaining high inventory accuracy, on-time store deliveries, cost control, manpower productivity, and strict adherence to safety and process standards.

Key Responsibilities

Distribution Centre Operations

- Manage daily DC operations including inbound receipts, put-away, storage, picking, packing, and outbound dispatch for retail stores.
- Ensure uninterrupted store replenishment aligned with store delivery calendars, promotions, and seasonal demand.
- Enforce SOPs, safety standards, and statutory compliance across all warehouse activities.
- Monitor throughput, space utilization, and order turnaround time to meet retail service levels.

Inventory & Stock Accuracy

- Own inventory accuracy across all SKUs, sizes, and categories.
- Drive cycle counting programs and periodic physical inventory audits.
- Control shrinkage, damages, expiries, and pilferage within approved limits.
- Ensure timely reconciliation of physical vs system stock and closure of variances.
- Coordinate with merchandising, planning, and procurement teams for optimal stock availability.

Store Dispatch & Transportation

- Ensure timely and accurate dispatches to stores as per defined route plans and delivery windows.
- Coordinate with transporters and 3PL partners for vehicle availability and route adherence.
- Monitor OTIF (On-Time In-Full), store fill rates, and delivery compliance.
- Optimize freight costs through efficient load planning, route optimization, and vehicle utilization.

Team & Workforce Management

- Lead DC supervisors, executives, and contract manpower across shifts.
- Plan manpower deployment based on store order volumes, promotions,



and peak seasons.
- Set performance targets and monitor productivity.
- Train teams on retail-specific processes, safety, and loss prevention.

Vendor & Partner Management

- Manage transport vendors.
- Review vendor performance against SLAs and service commitments.
- Drive continuous improvement with Stakeholders to enhance service and cost efficiency.

Process Excellence & Compliance

- Implement retail best practices in warehousing, picking accuracy, and store-ready dispatches.
- Lead audits related to safety, quality, and compliance (ISO / internal retail audits).
- Drive 5S, Kaizen, Lean, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Reporting & Performance Management

- Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports.
- Track KPIs including inventory accuracy, store fill rate, OTIF, order turnaround time, damages, shrinkage, manpower productivity, and cost per case.
- Present DC performance reviews and improvement plans to senior leadership.

Qualification & Experience

- Graduate degree required; MBA or Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations preferred.
- 8–10 years of experience in Distribution Centre / Warehouse Operations, with mandatory experience in Retail DC Operations.
- Minimum 3–5 years managing Distribution Centre operations for a brick-and-mortar retail chain (compulsory).
- Proven experience handling high SKU counts, store replenishment, and multi-store delivery models preferred.
