Position Summary The Senior Structural Engineer is responsible for the mechanical integrity and safety of all specialized enclosures. To ensure that every Container can withstand the static lloads and the energetic stresses of lifting, sea transport, and stacking. This role is the final authority on structural calculations and FEA before drawings are released. Qualifications & Experience Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech (Mechanical or Structural). Experience: 6–10 years in structural design within heavy fabrication, PEB (Pre-Engineered Buildings), offshore structures, or specialized containers. Software Skills: 3D Design: Proficiency in Solid Edge is mandatory. 2D Drafting: Mastery of AutoCAD. Analysis: Expert-level knowledge of ANSYS, STAAD.Pro, or Abaqus. Key Responsibilities 1. Structural Analysis & Simulation FEA Analysis: Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate lifting, racking, and stacking loads as per ISO 1496 and CSC standards. Load Path Optimization: Design and verify the load-bearing frames and base-frames, ensuring they support point loads without excessive deflection. Vibration & Seismic Analysis: Conduct analysis for vibration resistance during transit and seismic compliance for units installed in high-risk zones. 2. Design Engineering (Focused on Stability) Tool Proficiency:
Utilize Solid Edge for 3D structural modeling and AutoCAD for 2D detailing of structural joints and members. Material Selection: Define specifications for high-tensile steels and Corten steel (S355J2W or equivalent) to balance weight reduction with structural longevity. Center of Gravity (CG): Calculate and document the precise 3D Center of Gravity for asymmetric modular units to ensure safe crane lifting. 3. Welding & Joint Design Design critical weld joints (butt, fillet, and plug welds) and specify NDT requirements for high-stress areas like corner castings and floor cross-members. 4. Certification & Standards Prepare technical calculation reports for third-party inspection agencies to obtain CSC and ISO certifications. Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of beam theory, plate buckling, and the fatigue life of welded steel structures. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Structural Safety Factor: Achieving optimal weight-to-strength ratios while maintaining safety margins. First-Pass Success: Zero structural failures during physical prototype testing (e.g., floor load tests or lifting tests). Certification Speed: Timely submission and approval of structural calculation reports by regulatory bodies
