We are a start-up based out of Bengaluru & Delhi NCR. We are engaged in development of next generation missions and technologies (NGM&T;) towards future warfare needs of the Indian defence forces. It is undertaking research towards enhancing persistence and autonomy for unmanned vehicles and robotic swarms. NRT’s product development portfolio includes a solar power stratospheric high altitude pseudo satellite (HAPS) unmanned platform and an air/ground launched stand-off autonomous system.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The candidate shall accomplish and support activities involving aerodynamic sizing of fixed wing UAVs in the conceptual design phase.
The activities include but not limited to the following:
- Perform market survey and constraint analysis
- Select an aerofoil and planform for the UAV
- Size the UAV external geometry and evaluate the aerodynamic characteristics using lower order tools
- Estimate the performance and evaluate the stability
- Perform and support activities of aerodynamic evaluation of fixed wing UAVs during the preliminary design phase
- Carry out the design trade studies
- Generate aerodynamic data required to support other systems like Flight controls, avionic systems, etc.
- Perform CFD analyses of fixed wing UAVs to evaluate aerodynamic performance
- Prepare geometry for CFD analyses from CAD geometry
- Generate good quality grids
- Generate results using appropriate solver settings with limited time frames and resources
- Post-process the results and document the same in detail
- Recommend suggestions to design team based on the generated results
Must have skills:
- Good understanding of external aerodynamics of fixed wing UAVs
- Good understanding of meshing and solver setup requirements for CFD to address the involved flow physics for low speed flows
- Hands on experience of generating both structured and unstructured grids for
- CFD following best practises involved
- Ability to interpret the flow physics observed based on the CFD results and validate the same with the theoretical computations and experimental results.

Candidate must have strong fundamentals in the following areas:
- Aerodynamics
- Fluid Mechanics
- Computational Fluid Dynamics and Turbulence models
Valuable to have skills:
Preference will be given to candidate with one or more of the following skills:
- Hands on experience in performing constraint analysis, sizing the external geometry and estimating performance characteristics
- Ability to comprehend the effects of design choices on aircraft performance and stability
- Hands on experience pertaining to activities involving wind tunnel testing of an aircraft
- Experience in activities involved in aero-elasticity problems
- Ability to conduct optimisation studies of an aerofoil or an aircraft platform
- Ansys SpaceClaim/Design Modeler
- CFD Solvers like STAR CCM+/ SU2
- Post processing tools like Tecplot or Paraview
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Aerospace/CFD/Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 1 or 2 years of relevant experience respectively.
- At least one degree must be in Aerospace Engineering.
