Hiring Context

We are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to work on test cases that run on hardware environments. The role focuses on improving existing test jobs through repeated optimization cycles, reducing execution time, improving reliability, and developing Python-based workloads.

Key Responsibilities

Execute and maintain test cases on physical or hardware-based test environments.

Develop Python-based workloads and automation scripts for test execution.

Analyze existing test jobs to identify runtime bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

Optimize test execution while preserving test coverage.

Profile and measure test execution before and after optimization.

Improve test reliability, repeatability, diagnostics, and failure reporting.

Refactor test code and supporting utilities for maintainability and efficiency.

Automate setup, execution, validation, cleanup, and result collection.

Implement timeout, retry, validation, recovery, and cleanup mechanisms.

Investigate test failures across test logic, workloads, hardware, infrastructure, and environment configuration.

Execute regression testing to validate optimization changes.

Track execution time, pass/fail rates, flaky-test trends, and optimization metrics.

Document test behavior, performance improvements, limitations, and troubleshooting procedures.

Collaborate with developers, test engineers, and infrastructure teams to improve the test pipeline.

Experience improving test reliability, repeatability, and diagnostics.

Experience working with logs, timing data, and test-result artifacts.

Understanding of test setup, execution, validation, teardown, and cleanup.

Linux or Unix command-line experience.

Familiarity with Git, CI pipelines, code reviews, and defect tracking.

Robust documentation skills.

Preferred Expertise

Experience optimizing large or long-running test suites.

Experience with Python workload generation.

Experience with parallel execution, batching, concurrency, and resource utilization.

Familiarity with pytest fixtures, parametrization, markers, plugins, or custom test runners.

Experience diagnosing flaky tests, race conditions, timing issues, and environment-related failures.

Experience testing storage systems, hardware appliances, servers, embedded systems, or distributed infrastructure.

Experience collecting and analyzing performance metrics.

Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar CI tools.

Basic understanding of hardware state, resource constraints, system health, and test-environment recovery.

Basic shell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
