AMS ESD Expert
Stream: Analog Mixed Signal Design
Location: Bangalore
As an ESD Expert/Leader at LTSCT, you will play a critical role, focusing on architecting, designing and delivering ESD solutions for Analog/RF/Power IP, SOC and system level for all the projects being done in LTSCT. You are expected to have deep understanding of device physics and hand on experience and on state of art ESD methodology from concept, design, enabling tape out, silicon testing and debugging. The candidate must have experience of working with Fab to be able to understand the requirement of technology to be able to architect the ESD solutions. LTSCT will be working on CMOS, Finfet and BCD technologies and its mandatory that candidate must have experience of at least 2 forms of the technology. The successful candidate in this role will drive solutions with customer, marketing and systems team to create roadmap, architecture, circuit design, setting up best in class methodologies and processes. We are seeking individuals who have a strong passion for setting up the methodologies, passionately driving the initiatives and coming up with solution in complex and evolving situations. The key expectations for this role include, but are not limited to:
Areas Of Responsibility
- End to end responsible for architecture, feasibility and modelling of ESD solutions needed for IP and SOC.
- Defining ESD Methodology: Establishing the ESD protection strategy for all silicon developed, including specifying chip and IP level ESD requirements1.
- Designing ESD Protection Devices: Creating and integrating ESD protection circuits and devices to meet design requirements. This includes designing diodes, grounded gate n-channel MOSFETs, and silicon-controlled rectifiers2.
- Developing Test Structures:
Designing test structures to characterize silicon for ESD and latch-up properties, ensuring the robustness of the ICs against ESD events1.
- Collaborating with Foundries: Working closely with semiconductor foundries to develop ESD libraries and design rules based on silicon characterization data1.
- Maintaining ESD Device Libraries: Keeping an updated library of ESD devices to support internal and external design teams1.
- Conducting ESD Testing and Verification: Generating or reviewing ESD testing plans and ensuring that ICs meet industry standards such as the Human Body Model (HBM) and Charged Device Model (CDM)2.
- Debugging and Problem-Solving: Leading ESD-related debug activities to identify and resolve issues during the design and manufacturing process1.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining detailed records of ESD control measures, test results, and compliance with ESD standards2.
- Drive culture of innovation to ensure the IP/IC we are doing are best in class benchmarking with competition.
- Guiding and mentoring the young engineers to develop skills and to acquire critical design competencies.
Experience and Qualification
- 8- 15 years of deep and hands on experience on creating ESD solutions.
- Practical experience with ESD protection design, testing, and characterization is crucial.
- Deep understanding of transistor behaviour and characteristics.
- Solid analytical,
mathematical and intuitive understanding of device physics and circuit design and arriving at the optimized solution taking into considerations all contrasting constraints.
- Strong Knowledge of ESD testing models such as Human Body Model (HBM), Charged Device Model (CDM), Machine Model (MM), and IEC-61000-4-2
- Proficiency with EDA tools like Virtuoso, Calibre, and Allegro and tools like PERC and Pathfinder
- Expertise in feasibility analysis with different modelling techniques for quick evaluation of the solution.
- Well verse with ESD Standard like IEC 61000-4-2 & ISO 10605
- Implementing design changes to improve ESD robustness, such as adding protection components or redesigning PCB layouts.
- Collaborating with design engineers to integrate ESD protection early in the design process.

Qualifiers for the Role / Necessary Experience and Skills Required for the Role
- Bachelor's/Masters/PhD degree in engineering in Electronics and Electrical Engineering with excellent academic records.
