We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Technical Lead / Architect to drive the design, evolution, and delivery of our enterprise-grade software systems. In this role, you will serve as the technical anchor of one or more product squads — guiding engineers, defining architectural standards, and translating complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
You will work closely with product, infrastructure, and data teams to establish best practices across the full software delivery lifecycle. You are equally comfortable whiteboarding system designs with architects as you are reviewing pull requests with developers. Your technology background is broad and stack-agnostic; what matters most is your depth of engineering judgement and your passion for building systems that last.

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Design

- Lead end-to-end architecture for new products, platforms, and major feature initiatives
- Define and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and coding standards across teams
- Evaluate build vs. buy decisions and drive technology selection with clear rationale
- Produce architectural decision records (ADRs) and ensure documentation stays current
- Design for non-functional requirements: scalability, resilience, observability, and security by design

Technical Leadership

- Provide hands-on technical mentorship to senior, mid, and junior engineers
- Conduct architecture and code reviews with constructive, knowledge-sharing feedback
- Collaborate with product owners to refine technical feasibility, effort estimates, and trade-off analysis
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for cross-team and cross-functional initiatives

Cloud & Infrastructure

- Design and govern cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP (multi-cloud awareness is a

plus)

- Define cloud cost optimisation strategies — right-sizing, reserved capacity, and FinOps principles
- Ensure architectures leverage managed services, serverless patterns, and auto-scaling where

appropriate

- Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) adoption using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CDK

Database Engineering

- Design and own relational (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis,

Cassandra) schemas

- Lead database performance optimisation: query tuning, indexing strategies, execution plan analysis,

and caching layers

- Define data security controls: encryption at rest and in transit, field-level masking, RBAC, and audit

logging

- Govern data lifecycle policies,

backup/recovery strategies, and disaster recovery testing
- Evaluate and introduce new storage technologies aligned to specific workload demands

DevOps & Developer Experience

- Champion CI/CD pipeline design, branching strategies, and automated testing gates
- Containerise applications using Docker and oversee Kubernetes / ECS / Cloud Run deployment models
- Promote shift-left security (SAST, DAST, dependency scanning) within the development workflow
- Establish SLOs, error budgets, and observability practices using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana,

Datadog, or equivalent

AI & Emerging Technologies (Advantageous)

- Contribute architectural guidance to AI/ML-powered product features or internal tooling
- Evaluate and integrate LLM APIs, embedding pipelines, RAG architectures, or fine-tuning workflows
- Ensure responsible AI practices — model governance, bias evaluation, and data privacy compliance
- Stay current with the AI landscape and identify opportunities to embed intelligent capabilities into

products

Preferred Skills

Core Engineering Experience

- 8+ years of qualified software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a technical lead or

architect capacity

- Proficiency in one or more languages: JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), Python, Java, C# (.NET), or Go
- Solid grasp of OOP, functional programming, design patterns (SOLID, DDD, CQRS, Event Sourcing), and

clean code principles

- Extensive experience designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs; familiarity with gRPC and async messaging

(Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)

- Proven track record of delivering large-scale distributed systems in production environments

Cloud Platforms (at least one, multi-cloud awareness preferred)
[AWS] [Azure] [Google Cloud Platform]

- Deep hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider
- Core service familiarity: compute (EC2/VMs/GCE), containers (EKS/AKS/GKE), serverless, object

storage, CDN, VPC/networking

- Understanding of IAM, least-privilege access, secrets management (Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Key

Vault)

- Experience with cloud cost management, tagging strategies, and rightsizing

Database Skills (MANDATORY)

[Schema Design] [Query Optimisation] [Indexing] [Security] [DR & Backup]

- Strong relational database design skills — normalisation, referential integrity, schema versioning

(Flyway, Liquibase)

- Performance tuning: EXPLAIN/ANALYZE, index design, covering indexes, partitioning, connection

pooling

- NoSQL data modelling for document stores, key-value, wide-column, and time-series databases
- Database security: row-level security, column masking, audit trails, encryption key management
- High-availability configurations: read replicas, failover clusters, cross-region replication

DevOps & Containerisation (Minimum Proficiency Required)
[Docker] [CI/CD] [IaC] [Kubernetes (basic)]

- Container fundamentals: Dockerfile best practices, multi-stage builds, image hardening, registry

management

- CI/CD pipeline configuration in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins
- Infrastructure as Code basics with Terraform or equivalent
- Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts (deployments, services, config maps, ingress) — deep expertise is

a plus

Soft Skills & Leadership

- Exceptional communication — able to translate technical concepts for both engineering teams and

non-technical stakeholders

- Strong analytical and systems-thinking approach to problem decomposition
- Experience driving technical roadmaps aligned with business goals and product strategy
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, agile environments with shifting priorities
- Collaborative, empathetic leadership style with a focus on team growth and knowledge transfer

NICE TO HAVE (ADVANTAGEOUS)

- Prior experience contributing to or leading AI/ML-powered products or platforms
- Hands-on work with LLM frameworks: LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI API, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI, or

Bedrock

- Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector) and semantic search architectures
- MLOps experience: model deployment, versioning, monitoring, and retraining pipelines
- Knowledge of data engineering patterns — streaming (Kafka, Kinesis), batch ETL, and data

lake/warehouse architectures

- Relevant cloud certifications: AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google

Professional Cloud Architect

- Experience in regulated industries (FinTech, HealthTech, GovTech) with compliance awareness (GDPR,

ISO 27001, SOC 2)

- Open-source contributions or active participation in technical communities
