Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Technical Lead - Scala to join our

engineering team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Scala-based backend

development along with positive leadership capabilities. This role requires end-to-end ownership of

design, development, and delivery of scalable, distributed systems, while mentoring senior and

junior engineers and driving technical excellence across the team.

As a Technical Lead, you will work closely with architects, product owners, and cross-functional

teams to build high-quality, secure, and resilient solutions. You are expected to be hands-on,

proactive, and capable of making sound technical decisions while fostering a collaborative and

learning-oriented engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide technical leadership in the design, development, and deployment of backend

services using Scala and modern frameworks.

- Architect and develop event-driven, microservice-based distributed systems.
- Own end-to-end delivery of features, ensuring quality, scalability, performance, and security.
- Guide and mentor team members, conduct code reviews, and promote best engineering

practices.

- Ensure high test coverage through unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver business-aligned

solutions.

Drive implementation and continuous improvement of monitoring, alerting, logging, and

observability.

- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, production issues, and

technical debt.





- Support incident management, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.
- Advocate clean code, design patterns, and adherence to SDLC and Agile practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of overall software development experience, with strong hands-on expertise in

Scala (2.13+).

- Solid experience with Play Framework and Akka Actors.

Strong background in building RESTful APIs, working with GraphQL, and designing event-

driven microservices.

Experience with distributed systems and asynchronous, non-blocking architectures.

Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL or No-

SQL databases like Cassandra and MongoDB.

Working knowledge of AWS services including S3, RDS Aurora, Kinesis, Athena, and

CloudWatch.

- Strong focus on monitoring, debugging, and observability, with experience using tools like

Datadog, Rollbar, and Sumo Logic.

- Familiarity with incident response processes and postmortem-driven improvement culture.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and following standard SDLC practices.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

- Prior experience in a technical lead or senior mentoring role.
- Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot complex production issues in distributed systems.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in cloud-native or high-scale production environments.
- Passion for continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and building high-performing teams.
