About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned Head of Tendering to lead our international bidding and proposal function. Our core business is EPC — spanning Power Transmission, Substations, Distribution, Renewable Energy, and we also have growing verticals in BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) and Metering Solutions. This role will primarily drive tendering for our EPC business while also supporting bid strategy for BESS and Metering projects in international markets.

Key Responsibilities

Tendering Leadership

- Lead end-to-end tendering for EPC projects internationally — Transmission Lines, Substations (HV/EHV/GIS), Distribution Networks, Solar, and Hybrid Energy projects
- Drive bid strategy for emerging BESS and Metering verticals in international markets
- Build, lead and mentor the tendering team — engineers, estimators, and proposal managers
- Define tendering SOPs, governance frameworks, and quality processes
- Own the annual bid pipeline and order intake targets

Bid & Proposal Management

- Oversee preparation of technical and commercial proposals for international EPC tenders
- Review RFQ, RFP, ITB, NIT documents from international clients, utilities, and funding agencies
- Lead Bid / No-Bid decisions in coordination with senior management
- Ensure timely, compliant, and competitive bid submissions
- Manage pre-bid and post-bid discussions, clarifications, and negotiations

Cost Estimation & Pricing

- Direct preparation of detailed cost estimates — Civil,



Electrical, Substation, Transmission, BESS, and Metering packages
- Develop competitive pricing strategies factoring in country-specific risks, market intelligence, and margin targets
- Review and approve final tender pricing before CEO/MD sign-off

BESS & Metering Tendering Support

- Build tendering capability for BESS projects — including storage sizing, grid integration, and O&M; cost components
- Support proposals for Smart Metering, AMI, and Metering infrastructure projects in international markets
- Identify and onboard technology partners, OEMs, and consortium partners for BESS and Metering bids

Risk & Contract Management

- Identify and mitigate commercial, technical, and contractual risks in all bids
- Review contract terms — FIDIC, NEC, bespoke international contracts — in coordination with legal teams
- Manage JV, consortium, and pre-bid tie-up arrangements

Client & Stakeholder Management

- Build relationships with international clients, utilities, developers, IPPs, and funding agencies (World Bank, ADB, Exim Bank, JICA, AfD)
- Represent the company in pre-bid meetings, client visits, and industry forums
- Coordinate internally with engineering, procurement, finance, and legal teams

Market Intelligence

- Monitor international EPC, BESS, and Metering market trends




- Track competitor activity and emerging opportunities in target geographies
- Maintain bid database — historical rates, lessons learned, productivity benchmarks

Key Requirements

Experience

- 15–30 years in tendering / estimation within the EPC sector — Power Transmission, Substations, Distribution, Renewable Energy
- Exposure to BESS or Energy Storage tendering is a strong advantage
- Experience in Metering / AMI / Smart Grid projects is an added plus
- Must have handled international bids — Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, or similar markets
- Prior experience leading a tendering department or team at senior level

Technical Skills

- Deep knowledge of EPC contracting — LSTK, Unit Rate, HAM, BOT models
- Familiarity with FIDIC, NEC, and bespoke international contract frameworks
- Understanding of BESS technology — Li-ion, flow batteries, grid-scale storage (preferred)
- Awareness of Smart Metering, AMI infrastructure, and metering project tendering (preferred)
- Proficiency in cost estimation tools — CANDY, Primavera, MS Project, Excel

Education

- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or related Engineering (mandatory)
- MBA / PG in Project Management or Construction Management (preferred)
- PMP or FIDIC certification is an advantage

Leadership & Soft Skills

- Proven team leadership — ability to manage and mentor cross-functional tendering teams
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Multicultural working experience — international client-facing exposure essential
