JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Logistics Manager – Transport & Distribution Department: Supply Chain / Logistics Location: Harohalli, Bangalore Reporting To: GM – Plant Operations Experience Required: 15 – 20 Years Industry Preference: FMCG / Food Processing / Consumer Goods / Distribution JOB PURPOSE To lead and manage the entire transportation, dispatch, distribution, and logistics operations for Domestic and Export business. The role is primarily responsible for transportation planning, freight optimization, vehicle management, channel-wise dispatch execution, logistics cost control, and ensuring timely deliveries across GT, MT, E-commerce, Exports, CSD, Institutions, and other business channels. The position will play a critical role in managing 400+ trucks per month, controlling freight costs, improving vehicle utilization, reducing logistics losses, and ensuring high customer service levels. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Transportation Management Manage end-to-end transportation operations for all dispatches. Plan vehicle placement based on daily dispatch plans. Ensure vehicle availability without impacting customer deliveries. Negotiate and finalize transport contracts. Develop alternate transporter network to reduce dependency. Monitor vehicle turnaround time (TAT). Ensure timely vehicle reporting and loading. Improve vehicle utilization and freight efficiency. Monitor detention, transit damages, and delivery performance. Handle interstate and export transportation requirements. Channel-Wise Dispatch Management Responsible for logistics operations across: General Trade (GT) Modern Trade (MT)
E-Commerce E-Commerce Others Institutions CSD Export Shipments Distributors & Super Stockists Key Responsibilities: Ensure timely dispatch against customer orders. Monitor service levels and OTIF performance. Coordinate with Sales and Supply Chain teams. Resolve dispatch bottlenecks. Improve order fulfilment performance. Ensure customer-specific dispatch compliance. Freight Cost Optimization Drive freight cost reduction initiatives. Monitor freight cost per kg and per box. Optimize route planning and vehicle loading. Improve vehicle fill rates. Consolidate shipments wherever feasible. Develop logistics cost-saving projects. Benchmark freight rates regularly. KPI: Freight Cost per KG Freight Cost as % of Sales Vehicle Utilization % Cost Saving Achievements Dispatch & Warehouse Coordination Coordinate with FG Warehouse team for daily dispatch planning. Ensure dispatch prioritization as per business requirements. Manage loading schedules and dock planning. Improve loading productivity. Monitor dispatch ageing and pending orders. Ensure FIFO and stock rotation compliance. Export Logistics Management Coordinate container planning and stuffing schedules. Work closely with CHA, Freight Forwarders, and Shipping Lines. Ensure export documentation readiness. Monitor container utilization and loading efficiency.
Improve container fill percentage. Control export logistics costs. Logistics MIS & Reporting Responsible for preparing and reviewing: Daily Dispatch Report Vehicle Placement Report Freight Cost Report Pending Dispatch Report Transporter Performance Report OTIF Report Logistics Cost Dashboard Monthly Logistics Review Vendor & Transporter Management Develop strong transporter relationships. Conduct transporter performance reviews. Ensure transporter compliance and documentation. Maintain alternate transporter database. Resolve transporter disputes and claims. Ensure adherence to agreed SLAs. Team Management Lead Logistics Coordinators and Transport Team. Develop logistics SOPs. Conduct daily review meetings. Build high-performance logistics culture. Drive accountability and ownership. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs) OTIF (On Time In Full) Delivery % Freight Cost per KG Freight Cost as % of Sales Vehicle Utilization % Container Utilization % Dispatch Accuracy % Customer Service Level % Transporter Performance Score Damage & Transit Loss % Logistics Cost Savings EDUCATION Graduate in any discipline. MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain or Logistics preferred. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE 15 – 20 years of Logistics & Transportation experience. Robust FMCG distribution experience. Experience handling GT, MT, E-Commerce, Institutions, CSD and Export logistics. Experience managing freight spend of ₹50 Lakhs+ per month. Experience handling 300+ vehicles per month. Strong transporter network across India. Experience in SAP/ERP systems and Logistics MIS.
