Job Description
In a client-project environment, a data engineer will be responsible for converting raw data into usable information for analytics and business decision-making. He/she will work with various systems that can be found everywhere (i.e., multiple industries). So, knowledge and exposure of best practices will be critical. A Data Engineer will be expected to use different technologies to collect and map an organizations data landscape to help decision-makers find cost savings and optimization opportunities. Elementwise,
a project may involve building data-pipeline or maintaining the existing set-up or even building or setting up entire data-lake.
The Data engineer will be directly working with the client, so looking for a valuable individual contributor and a great team-player a combination holding the key to successful delivery of the project.
Responsibilities:
a) Analyse and organize raw data from different sources
b) Build data systems and pipelines
c) Evaluate business needs and objectives
d) Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modelling
e) Build algorithms and prototypes
f) Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
g) Identify opportunities for data acquisition
h) Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects
Requirements and skills:
a) Extensive exposure to at least 1 of these environments viz. AWS or GCP
b) Previous experience as a data engineer or in a similar role
c) Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques
d) Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python)
e) Hands-on experience with SQL database design
f) Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar field
g) Data engineering certification (e.g IBM Certified Data Engineer) is a plus
