The VMC Setter is responsible for machine setup, tooling, fixture alignment, prove-out of new jobs, and ensuring production runs as per approved process parameters.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up VMC machines as per production requirements.
- Install and align fixtures, vises, and cutting tools.
- Load and verify CNC programs before production.
- Perform first-off inspection and obtain quality approval.
- Optimize offsets, cutting parameters, and cycle time.
- Troubleshoot machining issues during production.
- Ensure machine cleanliness and basic preventive maintenance.
- Coordinate with programmers, operators, and quality inspectors.
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- 3–6 years of experience in VMC machine setting.
2. VMC ProgrammerJob Summary
The VMC Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing CNC programs to achieve high productivity, accuracy, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop CNC programs using G & M codes and CAM software (where applicable).
- Read engineering drawings, process sheets, and GD&T; requirements.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies.
- Optimize machining parameters to reduce cycle time.
- Support production during new component development.
- Troubleshoot programming and machining issues.
- Maintain program backups and revision control.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams for process improvements.
Qualification
- Diploma / BE Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- 3–8 years of CNC/VMC programming experience.
3. VMC OperatorJob Summary
The VMC Operator is responsible for operating Vertical Machining Centre (VMC) machines, producing components according to specifications, and maintaining quality and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate VMC machines as per work instructions.
- Load and unload components safely.
- Perform tool offset corrections as instructed.
- Conduct basic dimensional inspection using measuring instruments.
- Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities.
- Maintain production records.
- Follow safety procedures and 5S practices.
- Meet daily production targets.
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
- Freshers or candidates with 1–3 years of VMC operating experience.
Required Skills (Applicable to All Roles)
- Knowledge of engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and bore gauges.
- Understanding of machining processes and cutting tools.
- Knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.) is preferred.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
