- Perform donor registration and donor eligibility assessment as per SOP.
- Collect whole blood using standard aseptic techniques.
- Ensure proper identification and labeling of donor samples and blood bags.
- Perform ABO/Rh grouping, cross-matching, and compatibility testing accurately.
- Prepare blood components including PRBC, FFP, Platelets, and Cryoprecipitate as applicable.
- Store blood and blood components under recommended temperature conditions.
- Monitor and record refrigerator, freezer, and platelet incubator temperatures.
- Maintain inventory of blood units and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Issue blood and blood components only after completing all mandatory testing and documentation.
- Maintain complete records of donor information, testing, issue, discard, and stock movement.
- Perform daily quality control procedures and document results.
- Assist in investigation and documentation of transfusion reactions.
- Participate in external quality assurance programs.
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance of blood bank equipment.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately.
- Follow biomedical waste management guidelines.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of donor and patient information.
- Participate in departmental meetings, audits, and quality improvement activities.
- Assist during NABH inspections and statutory audits.
- Participate in continuing education and mandatory hospital training programs.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a licensed Blood Bank or Hospital Blood Centre.
- Experience in component preparation, donor screening, and transfusion testing is preferred.
