Laboratory Technician – Roles & Responsibilities

1. Sample Collection & Handling

- Collect blood, urine, stool, and other specimens as per hospital protocol
- Correct patient identification and labeling of samples
- Follow universal precautions and biomedical waste (BMW) rules
- Ensure timely transport of samples to the lab

2. Laboratory Testing

- Perform routine and emergency tests (Hematology, Biochemistry, Serology, etc.)
- Operate laboratory equipment and analyzers correctly
- Follow SOPs for all tests
- Maintain accuracy, precision, and quality control

3. Reporting & Documentation

- Enter test results correctly in LIS/manual registers
- Inform critical values immediately to doctors/seniors
- Maintain daily work records and test logs
- Ensure confidentiality of patient reports

4. Equipment & Reagents Management

- Calibrate and maintain lab instruments
- Proper storage of reagents and consumables
- Report equipment malfunction to lab in-charge
- Maintain stock and avoid wastage

5. Infection Control & Safety

- Follow infection control guidelines
- Use PPE (gloves, masks, lab coats)




- Dispose biomedical waste as per color-coding rules
- Maintain clean and hygienic lab environment

6. Emergency & Shift Duties

- Attend emergency samples promptly
- Perform night/rotational duties as assigned
- Be available during emergency situations

7. Coordination & Conduct

- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and front office staff
- Maintain qualified behavior with patients and staff
- Follow hospital rules, duty timings, and reporting structure
- Report any incident, error, or unusual finding immediately

Job Types: Full-time, Fresher

Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹12,000.00 per month
