Lead – Diamond Authenticity Laboratory (Quality Assurance)

Role Purpose

The Manager – Diamond Authenticity Laboratory (QA) is responsible for establishing, operating, and governing a Diamond Authenticity Lab to ensure 100% natural diamonds with full 4C compliance. The role ensures certification accuracy, stone safety, process excellence, and quality assurance across solitaire and smaller diamond categories, while building robust systems, procedures, and stakeholder alignment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Diamond Authenticity & Certification

- Establish and operationalize the Diamond Authenticity Laboratory for solitaires and smaller diamonds
- Ensure 100% natural diamond validation with complete 4C compliance - LGD check and conclusions
- Deliver accurate and reliable diamond certification with complete technical details
- Build “Quality at Source” through strong validation processes

2. Lab Setup & Governance

- Coordinate with CITE and technical teams to set up lab infrastructure, equipment, and procedures
- Define, document, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards.
- Implement upcoming technologies to simplify and strengthen certification/reporting processes
- Maintain compliance with evolving industry standards and benchmarks

3. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement

- Design and implement efficient validation workflows ensuring optimal stone throughput
- Drive process simplification, standardization, and automation where possible




- Benchmark lab processes with external labs and market practices
- Capture daily input/output data in Oracle and publish MIS reports for stakeholders

4. Stone Safety, Accounting & Compliance

- Ensure end-to-end stone safety, traceability, and accountability
- Maintain clear systems for stone inflow and outflow
- Conduct regular physical verification and audits
- Ensure correct accounting of stones throughout the validation lifecycle

5. Equipment & Infrastructure Management

- Ensure lab equipment calibration as per defined standards and schedules
- Maintain machine condition, uptime, and compliance
- Support smooth bulk validation operations without delays or rework

6. Stakeholder Coordination

- Work closely with stone sourcing, CITE, and manufacturing units (PNGR, Hosur)
- Coordinate with internal customers to plan validation schedules and lead times
- Provide quality feedback and corrective/preventive action inputs to relevant teams
- Engage with outsourcing vendors when applicable

7. People Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and develop lab QA team members
- Drive accountability, productivity, and skill progression
- Build a strong culture of precision, ethics,



integrity and quality ownership

Education & Qualifications

- Graduate Diamonds / Graduate Gemologist (GIA) – Mandatory
- Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline, Geology preferred

Experience

- Minimum 15 years of overall diamond industry experience
- Strong exposure to diamond grading, assorting, pricing , certification, sourcing, and market practices

Technical & Functional Skills

- Deep knowledge of diamonds and gemstones in terms of 4Cs and Colour, Lustre matching from a fine jewellery perspective.
- Expertise in 4C compliance and authenticity validation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
