Qualifications
B.Sc. Nursing (Essential)
M.Sc. Nursing (Preferred)
Valid State Nursing Council Registration
BLS & PALS Certification (Preferred)
NRP Certification preferred for NICU
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of ICU/NICU/PICU nursing experience
1–2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Job Summary
The NICU/PICU Ward Incharge is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and coordinating nursing activities within the NICU/PICU. The role ensures high-quality, protected, family-centered care for critically ill neonates and pediatric patients while maintaining compliance with hospital policies, infection control practices, and NABH standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise nursing care for critically ill neonates and pediatric patients.
Manage duty rosters and nursing staff allocation.
Monitor ventilators, CPAP, HFNC, infusion pumps, and invasive monitoring.
Ensure medication safety and patient identification.
Maintain infection prevention and biomedical waste management practices.
Oversee documentation, census, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Coordinate with pediatricians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, laboratory, pharmacy, and radiology departments.
Educate and counsel patient families.
Conduct staff training, competency assessments, and performance evaluations.
Ensure compliance with NABH standards and quality improvement initiatives.
