Position: Data Architect (DBT+ Snowflake)

Purpose of the Position: The Cloud Data Architect will lead the design and implementation of a modern cloud-based data platform by collaborating with stakeholders to migrate existing SQL Server SSIS workloads to Snowflake using dbt-based ELT frameworks.

This role focuses on defining scalable, reliable, and governed data transformation architecture aligned with business requirements. The role is expected to provide architectural oversight, guidance to delivery teams, and ensuring solution alignment across phases.

Key Result Areas and Activities:

- Define target architecture for SSIS to Snowflake + dbt migration
- Establish Pipeline Architecture and dbt-based transformation framework including staging, intermediate, and mart layers
- Guide and perform conversion of SSIS packages into dbt models using various AI tools (SnowConvert/Cortex Code AI) with human in loop & manual refactoring ensuring consistency and scalability
- Define best practices for naming convention, data modelling, performance optimisation, and cost efficiency on Snowflake
- Design data validation, reconciliation, end to end testing and parallel run strategies for migration assurance
- Provide architectural oversight to ensure adherence to standards and solution design
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align migration approach with business needs
- Support governance, documentation, and lineage approach for audit readiness
- Enable CI/CD practices and version control for dbt deployments




- Identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies during migration lifecycle

Essential Skills:

- Strong hands-on experience in Snowflake architecture, Data Engineering and data warehouse design
- Hands-on experience with dbt transformation framework and ELT concepts
- Experience in SSIS to Snowflake (or legacy ETL to ELT) migration programs
- Strong SQL and data modelling (dimensional modelling) skills
- Experience defining data validation and reconciliation frameworks
- Understanding of performance tuning and workload optimisation in Snowflake
- Familiarity with CI/CD and version control (Git/Azure DevOps)
- Experience in driving team through delivery, UAT, & productionisation (Release planning,

Desirable Skills:

- Experience in migration accelerators or reusable frameworks
- Exposure to data governance and lineage tools
- Knowledge of Terraform or infrastructure automation
- Experience working with distributed or multi-team migration programs

Qualifications:

- Experience: 9+ years of experience in data engineering / data warehousing and 1 to 2 years in cloud data architecture roles.
- Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering / IT or related field
