Position: Quotation Engineer – Machine Shop Division (Valve & Défense Components)

Key Responsibilities

RFQ Review

- Receive and review customer RFQs.
- Study engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Identify missing information and seek clarification from customers.

Technical Feasibility

- Review material specifications.
- Evaluate machining feasibility.
- Analyse GD&T; requirements.
- Assess manufacturing capability.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams.

Cost Estimation

Prepare cost estimates based on:

- Raw material
- Machining cycle time
- CNC/VMC/HMC/Turning operations
- Tooling and fixtures
- Programming time
- Inspection and testing
- Heat treatment
- Surface treatment/coating
- Packing and dispatch
- Logistics
- Overhead expenses
- Profit margin

Process Planning

- Develop preliminary manufacturing process plans.
- Determine machine sequence.
- Estimate setup time.
- Estimate machining time.
- Identify special tooling requirements.

Supplier Coordination

- Obtain quotations for outsourced processes.
- Coordinate with approved vendors.
- Compare supplier costs.

Quotation Preparation

- Prepare commercial quotations.
- Prepare cost sheets.
- Prepare technical compliance statements.
- Maintain quotation records.

Customer Support

- Respond to technical queries.
- Participate in technical discussions.
- Support customer audits when required.

Continuous Improvement

- Maintain quotation database.
- Review actual manufacturing cost versus estimated cost.
- Improve estimation accuracy.

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (with relevant experience)

Experience

- 3–8 years in machining quotation/estimation.
- Experience in valve, oil & gas, defense, or aerospace precision machining industries preferred.
