Title of Job: Staff Software Engineer

Role Location: Bangalore, India

Position Description : Vocera(Now part of Stryker) is seeking a passionate and innovative Wireless QA Engineer in Devices Engineering team. As a member of Vocera wearable devices engineering team, you will be focused performing detailed protocol level analysis of 802.11 WiFi and Bluetooth, security layers of Vocera communication devices, and quality of firmware deliverables. This position reports to Senior Manager - R&D; .

Responsibilities

- Test the quality of the firmware deliverables in the area of 802.11, Bluetooth (classic and BLE), security and cryptography, OS, and networking layers
- Perform QA testing to expose defects and constraints, isolate the issue,



drive for root cause and contribute to the solution to drive closure
- Follow QA best practices and processes and be the advocate for a structured and well-designed QA approach
- Ensure successful delivery, of all the phases of the QA cycle, including acceptance, functional, system and regression test, performance, and battery life testing
- Reproduce specific customer scenarios, create issue reports with in-depth analysis to root cause problems.
- Support and partner with the escalation and automation team in investigations of 802.11 and Bluetooth issues
- Develop detailed testcases including feature interactions and compatibility with all components and automate them
- Work in an Agile environment with geographically distributed development teams to define, document and execute automation functional testing
- Ensure quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked and resolved
- Execute and review results for tests executed against various versions of software in different degrees of maturity
- Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all test scenario objects developed and test environments used

Competencies

- Deep knowledge of IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax wireless protocols, including all 802.1x and WPA/WPA2/(optionally WPA3) security mechanisms
- Deep knowledge of Wi-Fi network roaming with 802.11k, 802.11r and 802.11v, interoperability with 802.11w
- Knowledge of black/white box testing and Interoperability testing
- (WiFi, Bluetooth and FIPS certification testing is a plus)
- Ability to create in-depth analysis of logs and pinpoint the root causes of problems




- Strong team player comfortable working with geographically distributed and cross functional teams
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development and automation process
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills, including the ability to communicate complex, interactive design concepts clearly and persuasively
- Ability to manage traceability matrices to ensure all requirements and design elements have associated tests

Requirements

- BA or MS in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent
- 5+ years of hands-on testing experience on 802.11 protocols
- Manual testing of embedded devices; mobile device and apps testing is a plus
- Experience with over the air and RF box WLAN testing, Bluetooth Sinffers
- Skilled in writing test software and scripts in Python, Java, or C++ with advanced understanding of data structures
- Experience using wireless capture tools; Wireshark & Omnipeek, Chariot, iperf
- Experience setting up Cisco, Aruba AP and controller infrastructure for enterprise grade audio traffic and security
- Knowledge of revision control software and development lifecycle
- Expertise in one or more scripting languages, including TCL, Perl or Python
- Familiarity with Bluetooth profile and applications testing
- Track record of delivering high quality technical results within committed time parameters
- No travel required
