Job Summary
The Manager Structural Outfit Design & Deck Equipment will provide leadership and technical oversight for Structural, Outfit Design, and Deck Equipment engineering activities for newbuild vessel projects. The role is responsible for managing the complete project lifecycle from concept design and planning through construction, commissioning, and delivery while ensuring compliance with classification society rules, customer specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and project schedules.
Key Responsibility :
Engineering & Design Management
- Lead Structural, Outfit, and Deck Equipment engineering activities for newbuild vessel projects from design through delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Classification Society rules, statutory regulations, customer specifications, and shipyard standards.
- Review and approve structural, outfit, production, and vendor drawings to ensure technical accuracy and buildability.
- Drive integration of structural, machinery, electrical, HVAC, and outfitting systems for efficient vessel construction.
Project Execution
- Provide technical leadership and engineering support during fabrication, erection, installation, commissioning, and sea trials.
- Monitor engineering schedules, resource allocation, design changes, risks, and costs to ensure project objectives are achieved.
- Support project planning and execution to ensure on-time and within-budget delivery.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Procurement, QA/QC, OEMs, Customers, and Classification Societies to achieve project milestones.
- Facilitate technical discussions and resolve engineering issues with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure timely closure of design comments, approvals, and technical queries.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, safety, quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Support talent development and capability enhancement within the engineering function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 1215 years of experience in Shipbuilding, Offshore, Marine, Defence Shipbuilding, or Heavy Engineering projects.
- Proven experience in newbuild vessel construction, commissioning, and sea trials.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex marine projects.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in Structural Design, Outfit Engineering, and Deck Equipment Integration.
- Sound knowledge of Classification Society requirements, statutory regulations, and shipyard engineering practices.
- Experience coordinating with major Classification Societies and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Strong project management, planning, and execution capabilities.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project workplace.
