The Hostel Warden will be responsible for the overall administration, discipline, safety, security, and welfare of students residing in the Medical College and Nursing College hostels. The Warden will ensure a safe, hygienic, and conducive residential environment while maintaining compliance with institutional rules, anti-ragging regulations, and statutory requirements. Hostel wardens play a key role in student welfare, supervision of boarding and lodging, and implementation of anti-ragging measures.
Role & responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day administration and smooth functioning of the hostel.
- Allocate hostel rooms and maintain occupancy records.
- Ensure discipline, safety, and security of hostel residents.
- Implement and enforce hostel rules and regulations.
- Prevent and promptly report incidents of ragging, misconduct, or indiscipline.
- Coordinate with the Anti-Ragging Committee, Student Welfare Committee, Principal, Dean, and Management for student-related issues.
- Maintain hostel attendance and monitor entry/exit registers.
- Verify leave applications, night-out permissions, and visitor records.
- Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, hygiene, and maintenance of hostel premises.
- Supervise housekeeping, security personnel, hostel attendants, and support staff.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for civil, electrical, plumbing, and other repairs.
- Ensure uninterrupted water supply, electricity, and other essential services.
- Conduct regular inspection of rooms, common areas, dining hall, and hostel facilities.
- Monitor the quality and hygiene of food served in the hostel mess.
- Address student grievances and provide appropriate counselling or guidance whenever required.
- Maintain records of hostel residents, incidents, complaints, disciplinary actions, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster management protocols.
- Coordinate medical assistance for hostel residents during emergencies.
- Organise orientation programmes and student welfare activities in collaboration with the institution.
- Prepare periodic reports on hostel administration and submit them to Management.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Dean, Chairman, or Management.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Robust leadership and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Ability to handle students with empathy while maintaining discipline.
- Good administrative and documentation skills.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, email, hostel management software).
- Ability to respond effectively during emergencies.
- High level of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism.
- Preferred Candidate
- Experience in a Medical College, Nursing College, University, or Residential Campus Hostels.
- Familiarity with NMC, INC, UGC, and anti-ragging guidelines.
- Ability to stay on campus (if institutional accommodation is provided).
- Willingness to work beyond normal hours during emergencies or student-related situations.
