Role & responsibilities
- Develop business with Central and State Government departments, Defence, CAPFs, Police Forces and other security agencies.
- Regular meetings with Government officials, procurement officers and end users to build long-term relationships.
- Extensive travel across India for customer visits, product demonstrations and technical presentations.
- Government liaisoning for business development and project execution.
- Identify upcoming procurement opportunities through GeM, CPP Portal, departmental websites and tender notifications.
- Prepare, review and submit tenders on GeM, CPP Portal and other e-procurement portals.
- Coordinate with technical, commercial, accounts and legal teams for bid preparation.
- Prepare techno-commercial proposals, costing sheets and compliance documents.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, technical evaluations, product trials and negotiations.
- Coordinate with factories and internal departments for timely execution of orders.
- Maintain regular follow-up with clients from enquiry stage to payment realization.
- Develop and manage dealer, consultant and channel partner networks where applicable.
- Conduct market intelligence on competitors, pricing and recent procurement trends.
- Recruit, mentor and manage the business development team.
- Represent the company at defence exhibitions, industry conferences and official meetings.
Preferred candidate profile
Essential
- 7 to 15 years' experience in Defence, Homeland Security, Police or Government procurement.
- Strong understanding of Government tendering procedures.
- Hands-on experience with GeM Portal and e-procurement systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
- Ability to build long-term relationships with Government departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Commerce, Management or a related discipline.
Preferred
- Experience in Arms & Ammunition, Less-Lethal Weapons, Explosives, Defence Manufacturing or Security Equipment.
- Existing network within Defence, Police, CAPFs, DRDO, Ordnance establishments or Government procurement agencies.
- Experience handling GeM bids, defence tenders and rate contracts.
- Knowledge of procurement procedures such as GeM, DGS&D; (legacy), CPP Portal, Directorate General of Supplies and Defence procurement systems.
- Understanding of export business in defence products will be an added advantage.
- Familiarity with DGQA, MHA, PESO, QA procedures and defence compliance requirements.
- Experience in product demonstrations, user trials and technical evaluations.
