Job Summary:

Responsible for designing, developing, and validating BIW (Body-in-White) welding fixtures and SPMs (Special Purpose Machines) used in automotive manufacturing. The role involves working closely with production, process planning, and automation teams to ensure productive, accurate, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. BIW Fixture Design

- Design welding fixtures such as:
- Geo fixtures
- Re-spot fixtures
- Checking fixtures

- Apply 3-2-1 locating principle and GD&T.;
- Ensure proper clamping, locating, and ergonomics
- Perform tolerance stack-up analysis

2. SPM Design

- Design customized machines for automation of manufacturing processes
- Develop concepts for:
- Assembly stations
- Welding stations




- Material handling systems

- Select standard components (cylinders, sensors, motors, etc.)

3. 3D Modeling & Drafting

- Create 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools like:
- CATIA
- Solid works

- Generate BOM (Bill of Materials)

5. Manufacturing Support

- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturing teams
- Support fixture assembly and installation
- Resolve design issues during production

6. Documentation

- Prepare design reports, manuals and standardization documents
- Maintain revision control and engineering changes.
