Position: Accountant
Department: Accounts & Finance
Reports To: Managing Director / Finance Director
Location: As Assigned

Job Summary

The Accountant is responsible for leading and managing the company's accounting and finance functions, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing timely financial reports to management. The role includes supervision of the accounts team, tax compliance, budgeting, audits, and financial planning while ensuring the company's financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

- Maintain complete and accurate books of accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Monitor cash flow, bank balances, and working capital.
- Prepare management reports and MIS.
- Ensure timely closure of monthly and yearly accounts.

2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

- Ensure timely filing of GST, TDS, Income Tax Returns (ITR), knowledge in ROC filing and other statutory returns.
- Monitor compliance with all applicable tax laws and government regulations.
- Coordinate with tax consultants, auditors, and government authorities.
- Handle tax assessments, notices, and reconciliations.
- Maintain payroll records and employee financial documentation.

4. Accounts Receivable & Payable

- Monitor customer collections and outstanding receivables.
- Verify vendor bills and process payments.
- Reconcile customer and supplier accounts.
- Maintain proper aging analysis and payment schedules.

5. Banking & Cash Management

- Manage banking operations and reconciliations.
- Monitor fund requirements and cash flow.
- Coordinate loan documentation, bank guarantees, and financial facilities.
- Ensure proper control over company funds.

6. Budgeting & Financial Planning

- Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget utilization and cost control.
- Analyse financial performance and recommend improvements.
- Support management in financial decision-making.

Audit & Internal Controls

- Coordinate internal and statutory audits.
- Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documentation.
- Develop and implement internal financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

8. Documentation & Record Management

- Maintain all financial records securely.
- Ensure proper filing of invoices, vouchers, agreements, and statutory documents.
- Preserve financial records as per legal requirements.

Key Skills

- Robust knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Thorough understanding of GST, TDS, Income Tax, ROC, PT, and statutory compliance.
- Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
- Proficiency in Tally ERP/Tally Prime, MS Excel, ERP systems, and accounting software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.

Qualification

- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B. Com)
- M.Com, or MBA (Accounts and Finance).
- Professional certifications in accounting or taxation are an added advantage.

Experience

- Minimum 3+ of experience in Accounts and Finance.

- Timely submission of financial reports.
- 100% compliance with statutory filings.
- Accuracy of financial records and reconciliations.
- Timely completion of audits.
- Effective cash flow and working capital management.
- Zero major audit observations due to accounting errors.
- Successful completion of all statutory and tax compliances within due dates.

Authority

The Accountant is authorized to:

- Review and approve accounting entries.
- Verify and recommend vendor payments.
- Coordinate with banks, auditors, consultants, and statutory authorities.
- Recommend financial controls and process improvements to management.

The Head Accountant is expected to maintain the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and compliance while safeguarding the financial interests of the company and supporting sustainable business growth.
