As we expand our production capabilities, we are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic leadership skilled to oversee mechanical maintenance and engineering operations at our manufacturing facility in Khambhat, Gujarat.

Role Summary

The Assistant Manager - Plant Mechanical will be responsible for leading the mechanical maintenance department to ensure maximum plant availability, reliability, and safety of all static and rotary equipment. This role involves strategic planning, preventive/breakdown maintenance, team leadership, budget management, and compliance with statutory HSE guidelines in a chemical process plant environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintenance & Reliability:
- Oversee the maintenance of all mechanical equipment including reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, boilers, and utility systems.
- Implement and optimize Predictive (PdM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for chronic failures and implement permanent corrective actions.

- Team Leadership & Safety:
- Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
- Enforce a strict safety culture, ensuring compliance with Work Permit Systems, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), and hazardous area regulations.

- Project Management & CAPEX:




- Plan and execute mechanical modifications, debottlenecking projects, and capital expenditure (CAPEX) upgrades.
- Coordinate plant shutdowns (turnarounds) efficiently to ensure timely completion within budget.

- Inventory & Budgeting:
- Prepare and manage the annual mechanical maintenance budget (OPEX).
- Optimize spare parts inventory and coordinate with the procurement team for vendor management and technical evaluations.

Preferred candidate profile

Education

B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

Experience

10 to 15 years of experience in Mechanical within a Chemical, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, or Fertilizer continuous process plant.

Leadership

At least 3-5 years of experience in a managerial or assistant managerial capacity.

Location

Must be willing to relocate to or commute to Khambhat, Gujarat.

Technical & Behavioural Skills

- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of static and rotary equipment, piping standards (ASME/API), and utility operations (chillers, cooling towers, boilers).
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with SAP (PM Module) or other CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and AutoCAD.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, cross-functional communication, crisis management, and analytical problem-solving skills.

Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of statutory compliance related to IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations), SMPV, and factory inspectorate rules.
