Terocons Inc. is a California-based Heavy Civil General Engineering Contractor specializing in public works projects including underground utilities, concrete, asphalt paving, ADA improvements, roadway reconstruction, grading, and infrastructure.
We are looking for a Civil Estimator to join our estimating team and assist with quantity takeoffs and bid preparation for projects across California.
Responsibilities:
- Review civil drawings, specifications and bid documents
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for heavy civil projects
- Prepare BOQs and quantity spreadsheets
- Measure concrete, asphalt, grading, earthwork, underground utilities, curb & gutter, sidewalks, ADA ramps, storm drain, sewer and water systems
- Assist in preparing cost estimates and bid proposals
- Obtain and organize subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Maintain estimating spreadsheets and historical cost databases
- Assist with RFIs, bid clarifications and addenda
- Coordinate with project managers and estimators
- Meet estimating deadlines for public works bids
Preferred Candidate Profile
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- 2-6 years of estimating or quantity takeoff experience
- Strong understanding of civil construction drawings
- Excellent quantity takeoff skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
- AutoCAD knowledge
- Strong English communication skills
- High attention to detail
Preferred:
- Experience with US construction projects
- Experience with California public works projects
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift or similar takeoff software
- Knowledge of earthwork, utilities, concrete and roadway construction
- Experience reading project specifications and contract documents
