Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL) is a joint venture between India and Russia, established in 2019 to manufacture AK-203 assault rifles for the Indian Armed Forces. Located in Korwa, Amethi, within the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, IRRPL supports the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat by producing advanced small arms domestically. The company has successfully absorbed 100% Transfer of Technology from Russia, enabling local production, future upgrades, and R&D; of small arms. IRRPL has delivered 55,000 rifles to date and operates with a high production rate, delivering cutting-edge equipment to strengthen Indias defence preparedness while fostering industrial growth and local employment opportunities.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Amethi GM Production at Indo-Russian Rifles Private Limited. The GM Production will oversee and manage the entire production process for small arms manufacturing, ensuring timely project execution and adherence to quality standards. Responsibilities include streamlining production workflows, optimizing operational processes, managing supply chain activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role also involves supervising a multidisciplinary team, coordinating with various stakeholders, and driving efficiency in production schedules to meet organizational targets.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Production Planning

(a) Develop and execute production schedules aligned with delivery targets and customer demand.

(b) Prepare annual production and dispatch plans.

(c) Improve capacity utilization and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

(d) Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in critical operations.

(e) Ensure availability of consumable and non-consumable production items.

(f) Prepare JV reports and conduct financial plan vs. actual analysis (monthly, quarterly, yearly).

(g) Lead mass production ramp-up for upcoming paint shop operations.

2. Operational Excellence

(a) Drive process optimization and reduce operational downtime.

(b) Implement lean manufacturing practices across all sections.

(c) Build a 5S and Kaizen-driven culture.

(d) Adopt Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) for autonomous maintenance.

(e) Monitor scheduled machine AMC and preventive maintenance (PM).

3. Quality & Compliance

(a) Ensure adherence to ISO standards, defence industry norms, and statutory regulations.

(b) Implement and maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.

(c) Prepare and submit quality claims within JV frameworks.

(d) Secure DGQA clearance for dispatch of rifles to Ministry of Defence (MoD).

(e) Ensure production compliance as per CK (Concern Kalashnikov) standards.

(f) Manage quality deviations and ensure approvals through proper channels.

4. Team Leadership

(a) Lead, mentor, and motivate production teams.

(b) Develop training and skill enhancement programs.

(c) Conduct skill competency evaluations.

(d)



Manage performance reviews and provide structured feedback.

5. Cost Control

(a) Prepare and monitor production budgets.

(b) Identify cost optimization opportunities without compromising quality.

(c) Develop financial planning models for production units.

(d) Ensure effective CAPEX utilization and timely closure.

(e) Coordinate timely procurement of production essentials to avoid disruptions.

6. Safety Management

(a) Enforce workplace safety protocols and ensure compliance.

(b) Promote a culture of safety, discipline, and accountability.

(c) Ensure regular safety training for shop-floor personnel.

(d) Ensure strict adherence to PPE usage.

(e) Monitor compliance with all safety movement protocols within plant premises.

7. Cross-functional Coordination

(a) Collaborate closely with procurement, supply chain, R&D;, and quality teams.

(b) Conduct weekly coordination meetings (every Thursday).

(c) Lead daily morning meetings with Production, Technical, and QC teams.

(d) Provide regular updates to CEO on production progress.

(e) Knowledge of Industrial Legal Compliances

8. Reporting & Strategy

(a) Track and report KPIs, production metrics, and improvement initiatives.

(b) Drive strategic initiatives for productivity, modernization, and expansion.

9. Security Compliance

(a) Ensure strict adherence to organizational security policies.

(b) Enforce safety and security procedures across teams.

(c) Monitor implementation of all security protocols and compliance requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

(a) Bachelors degree in mechanical/production/industrial engineering, MBA & masters degree in mechanical/ similar stream is preferred.

(b) Minimum 20 years of experience in manufacturing/assembly, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role.

(c) Proven expertise in defence manufacturing or heavy engineering industries/ Army Veteran with Technical and Manufacturing Background.

(d) Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and modern production systems.

(e) Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

(f) Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a high-stakes environment.

(g) Possess experience in Project leadership and execution of greenfield projects.
