Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Plan and execute mechanical works as per approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Prepare work plans, resource schedules, and installation methodologies.
- Ensure project milestones are achieved within the approved timeline.
- Monitor daily progress and resolve technical issues.
2. Mechanical Installation & Supervision
- Supervise installation of mechanical equipment, piping, pumps, valves, tanks, HVAC systems, fire protection systems, and associated utilities (as applicable).
- Ensure installation complies with engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Coordinate equipment erection, alignment, and assembly activities.
- Supervise subcontractors and mechanical technicians.
3. Testing & Commissioning
- Plan and supervise pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Conduct hydrostatic, pneumatic, pressure, and performance tests.
- Ensure all mechanical systems are tested and commissioned according to approved procedures.
- Prepare commissioning reports and handover documentation.
4. Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC)
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with project specifications, approved drawings, and applicable codes and standards.
- Inspect materials, equipment, and completed installations.
- Coordinate third-party inspections and testing where required.
- Maintain quality records, inspection reports, and test certificates.
5. Maintenance & Equipment Reliability
- Develop preventive and predictive maintenance plans.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements.
- Ensure proper maintenance of construction equipment and machinery.
6. Safety Management
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Workplace (HSE) policies.
- Conduct safety inspections and toolbox talks.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Participate in accident investigations and safety audits.
7. Procurement & Material Management
- Prepare material requisitions and technical specifications.
- Review vendor quotations and technical documents.
- Verify delivered materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory and ensure timely availability of materials.
8. Cost Control & Budget Management
- Monitor mechanical project costs.
- Control material consumption and reduce wastage.
- Verify contractor measurements and invoices.
- Assist in budget preparation and cost forecasting.
9. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Maintain installation records, inspection reports, and testing documentation.
- Prepare as-built drawings and operation & maintenance manuals.
- Maintain project correspondence and technical documentation.
10. Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with civil, electrical, instrumentation, and structural engineering teams.
- Attend client, consultant, and contractor meetings.
- Resolve technical issues through effective coordination.
- Support project planning and scheduling activities.
11. Team Leadership
- Lead mechanical engineers, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Assign work responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Promote teamwork and continuous improvement.
