Position

Designation: Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Supplier Component Development (SCD) – BESS

Department: Supply Chain / Supplier Quality & Development

Reporting To: VP Operation

Job Summary

The AGM – Supplier Component Development (SCD) will be responsible for developing, qualifying, and managing suppliers for Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) components to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, timely delivery, and localization. The role focuses on supplier capability assessment, new supplier development, APQP, PPAP, process audits, cost reduction, and continuous supplier performance improvement while supporting new product development and production.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Development

- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers for BESS components.

- Develop a robust supplier base for electrical, mechanical, electronics, and fabricated components.

- Drive supplier localization initiatives to reduce cost and supply chain risks.

- Conduct supplier capability assessments and technical feasibility studies.

Recent Product Development Support

- Work closely with Design, R&D;, Procurement, Manufacturing, and Quality teams during new product development.

- Ensure suppliers meet technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.

- Coordinate prototype development and validation.

APQP & PPAP

- Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.

- Review and approve PPAP documentation.

- Ensure supplier process readiness before mass production.

- Monitor product and process validation activities.

Supplier Quality Assurance

- Conduct Process Audits and System Audits at supplier facilities.

- Implement Supplier Quality Improvement Plans.

- Drive Root Cause Analysis using:

- 8D

- 5 Why

- Fishbone Diagram

- FMEA

- Control Plans

- Monitor supplier PPM and quality KPIs.

Component Development

Develop and qualify suppliers for:

- Battery Packs

- Battery Modules





- Battery Cells

- BMS Components

- Power Conversion System (PCS) Components

- Sheet Metal Fabrication

- Busbars

- Copper & Aluminum Parts

- Wiring Harness

- Connectors

- Cooling System Components

- Plastic Injection Molded Parts

- Rubber Components

- Magnetics

- Fasteners

- EMS/PCB Assemblies

- Electrical Panels

- LV/HV Components

Supplier Performance Management

- Monitor supplier scorecards.

- Conduct periodic supplier reviews.

- Improve supplier OTD (On-Time Delivery), Quality, Cost, and Responsiveness.

- Develop supplier improvement roadmaps.

Cost Optimization

- Drive VA/VE initiatives.

- Identify alternate sources.

- Support annual cost reduction targets.

- Negotiate technical improvements with suppliers.

Project Management

- Track supplier development milestones.

- Ensure project timelines are achieved.

- Coordinate cross-functional reviews.

- Escalate critical supplier issues proactively.

Risk Management

- Develop dual sourcing strategies.

- Mitigate supply chain risks.

- Support business continuity planning.

- Monitor supplier financial and operational health.

Compliance

Ensure supplier compliance with:

- ISO 9001

- IATF 16949 (preferred)

- ISO 14001

- ISO 45001

- RoHS

- REACH

- BIS requirements

- Customer-specific standards

Required Qualifications

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.

- MBA (Operations/Supply Chain) is preferred.

Experience

- 12–18 years of experience in Supplier Development, Supplier Quality, or Component Development.

- Minimum 5 years in the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), EV, Automotive,



Power Electronics, Electrical Equipment, or Renewable Energy industry.

- Experience in developing global and domestic suppliers.
