Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for collecting blood samples for medical testing. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Blood Collection: Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws on patients of all ages following safety protocols and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.
- Patient Interaction: Greet patients, explain procedures, and provide comfort to ensure a positive experience during blood draws.
- Labeling and Documentation: Accurately label and document blood samples with patient information, ensuring compliance with medical records standards.
- Specimen Handling: Safely transport blood samples to the appropriate laboratory or facility for testing, ensuring specimens are handled properly to avoid contamination.
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure proper maintenance, sterilization,
and operation of phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures, infection control protocols, and regulations related to blood collection.
- Record Keeping: Maintain patient records, logging blood collection procedures, and updating any relevant medical data.
Qualifications:
- DMLT or B.Sc. in a biological science related to cancer biology or molecular and cellular biology
- Prior experience in blood sample collection / Logistics / operations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of blood collection techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and sample tracking
